Hey..
I am going to unhook my current x1900 and try out my 8800gtx on this vista platform. Hopefully v7 works :)

Hey..
Does not work. It actually runs the setup.exe file and goes through the entire process with success. In device manager however it still shows standard vga card. I tried doing a hard install by using the latest nv7 and it says the following:
The driver selected for this device does not support Windows Vista.
Do you have any ideas on what to do?

disable UDA (i think its called.. um..)
OMG! you won't believe this LOL
what an idiot i am,....
lol, the xp infs use nv4
the vista infs just use nv
so instead of
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0190.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0190
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0191.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0191
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0192.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0192
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0197.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0197
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_019D.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_019D
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_019E.1% = nv_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_019E
i was using
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0190.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0190
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0191.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0191
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0192.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0192
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0197.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0197
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_019D.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_019D
%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_019E.1% = nv4_NV8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_019E
you may all boo me and jeer at me later...

I'm apologize for intruding with a n00b question on what seems like a productive thread. There seems to be great interest in getting these drivers working with 8800-series cards; will these RTM drivers help me stablize the video on my 6800XT as well?
Thanks for any guidance.

Hey nForce...
Thanks for trying. I got the BSOD upon bootup of vista. Something to do with nvlddmbn or something like that.
I just wanted you to know.

well... all i can guess is that these drivers aren't at all made to work on G80... :(

I hate to sound like an absolute noob, but this whole INF stuff has really got me lost. I glanced around for an explaination in the forums, but did not see one.
I'm currently using a GeForce 8600 512M and a GeForce 6200 PCI card. The 97.19's did nothing to improve performance over the RC1 and RC2 drivers. Does this have something to do with having the wrong INF? And if so, which should I be using?

the inf is correct in 97.19 for 6800
Anyone else with 8800 try the #7 inf and Vista?

xgman, its not worth trying, its not gunna work, there driver files themselves aren't working on the G80

so much for my vista install.

not neccessarily, you can use certain XP drivers in Vista,.. you just won't get Dx10 and Desktop Composition (aero glass)
