Did he not know about the driver situation before hand? Why did he go Vista?

Just curious why people are upset after installing Vista when they did not have drivers goin in...
He's dual booting (like I am). I just said he has a useless installation of vista, he can't really do anything with it but he wants to use it.

For example, he wants to use the new media center, mess with the directx 10 tech demos, play his games in vista, and eventually switch over entirely, but with no sound hardware installed its kind of difficult to do any of that. He's been waiting for quite a while too. He's had Vista in some form (either Beta or RC) on his system for probably 6 months and auzentech still hasn't released a 64bit driver.

I guess they had one on the site at some point but they pulled it off. It'd be nice if it was still floating around the internet somewhere.

I have an HDA Xplosion. Just another reason to stay away from VISTER! for the moment. lol

Maybe when 8900/R600 roll out everyhing will be peachy.

i so wanted to buy x-meridian, but now i'm glad that i didn't. like i mentioned before what Auzentech told that they won't supply a wrapper from directsound to openal for their hardware. i just find all auzentech cards useless in vista.

^^^Can anybody try those and see how well they work? If they are decent, and don't cripple the card too much, I might just pick one of these up soon.

That just depends. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and love it. I'm not dual booting any other os either. So far I'm convinced that I wont need to dual boot either. Vista games great so I'm happy. Oh, and it is surprisingly stable as well. :D

Same here!

Well I actually still have XP on, but I haven't booted into XP since launching the Vista install from it.

Though I must say SLi support in Vista is still bugy- and if I really wanted to I could make Vista crash without much effort. But now that I figured out what "works" and what doesn't- I can practically utilize atleast 95% of what Vista offers- and the 5% (or less) that would make my system crash if utilized are features that mean nothing to me in the first place.

I think I'll be using Vista only. No need for XP. :D
