Dearest guys , i am a new member of this forum. I have just bought the 2 cards recently . I am a SLI rookie though,i find that when i am paly need for speed carbon or AOE3 Warchiefs, i got low fps and the games are lagging. I tried to downgrade 97.02 to 96.89 ,the fps increased consequently. However i got only about 4000marks in 3dmark 06=.= What is happening onto me?

I got : Amd athlon 4600+X2 ,2GB ddr-2 kingston ram, Asus P5N32-Deluxe SLi
Dual Inno 8800GTX 850WPSU (2the Max) seagate sata2 harddisk Dual dvd writers , Dell 2407 monitor

Please do help me cause this system is not running like i ever dreamed of...
I only find the pc playing max payne 1 & 2 incredibly smooth

P.S. all games are running at highest resolution and all effects turned to highest.

However, i switch down the resolution from1900X1200 to 1200x700 , it didn't change much

I think the answer here is that the current drivers out now that support your cards are really crappy. Give Nvidia a little more time to tweak there drivers, and you should have 1 hell of a gaming computer. Im jealous:captnkill:

check if you are not one with bad resistor

^ Man speaks the truth. Check to see whether the resistor pointed out on the above diagram reads "68C". If it does, then that's likely the problem. If it says "40C" then your problem lies elsewhere.

I had the exact same symptoms as you're having and it turned out to be the resistor problem. My cards are on their way back to newegg today.

Interesting stuff. Got me curious. Checked mine and 40C is the deal. Man it is small to read............

Man, I checked the resistors , it is all 40C ,so it is the crappy forceware problem? once i unplugged and replugged the card , i got about 8600 marks in 3d mark 06 for 1 card , however that crap cannot save my profile and after i turned on SLI , i got lagging in games again....=.= what's happening?

What does your voltages read?

How am i supposed to check the voltages? Am i going to check using a multimeter?
Or can i check those simply in programs?

What PSU do you have ???(lee63) The cards will down clock if theres not enough power.

750W (max 850w) 2th max .Actually i think this is a driver problem, because i tried to remove 1 card. 750W is undoubtedly enough for 1 card , but the fps is still the same. Is my thought right?

Have you installed and run nTune? With my 8800GTX rig - I had to uninstall nTune and reinstall the 97.02s. That solved it. Not going back to nTune anytime too soon.

uninstall ntune? ok i will try

Yep - I would uninstall nTune, and the video drivers. Then reboot and reinstall the drivers only, not nTune. Run your applications and see what happens.

I think the Need For Speed Carbon issue is a driver issue. Not sure about the other game since I don't have it.

NFS Carbon runs great for me with 97.02s.

Well, it doesn't for me with a single 8800GTX or in SLI. It'll be fine at times but like the other poster mentioned, it just drops to around 15-20fps at times for no apparent reason. Actually, with SLI and using AFR2, I was able to maintain the framerate for the most part but it was very jerky. Anyway, I was hoping my fresh install would solve that but it's the same. On my 2nd system, the framerates are about the same, it just doesn't drop to 15-20fps. Hmm, I'm using a dual-core cpu similar to the original poster, maybe it has something to do with that, although, my 2nd system has the same cpu. I don't know...maybe I'll try forcing it to a single core though to see how that goes.

What drivers are you using?

Actually, it appears to be an AMD Dual-core issue. I started the game, jumped out and set the affinity option to one cpu and now it's running great. Much higher framerate than the X1900XTX and the lowest I saw it drop to was around 40fps. Before it was dropping to 15-20.

BoscoWg, try setting the affinity option to one core (cpu) and see if that works. So, start the game and then alt-tab out or I usually hit the start key since that seems to work more often, once you're out of the game bring up the task manager, find the nfsc.exe process, right-click it and choose the affinity option, untic the 2nd cpu, and then go back to the game. This fixed the problem for me and increased performance a lot!

Edit: Using 97.02.

Dude, you got quite a nice lil rig goin yourself bro! Out of curiosity, is your GTO stable at 800 on the memory?

Nevermind on my comments about dual-core. I went back and tried it without setting the affinity option and it's still fine. I don't know how it was fixed but oh well, my performance is fine now, I think.

LabShark, can you bench one of the Quick Races using fraps and see what kind of framerates you're getting. Above is what I just got with a single 8800GTX.

Guys , i got it solved. Firstly , i uninstall all the drivers. Then i used driver cleaner pro ,removing the crappy registry . Consequently , i reinstall the nforce drivers, forceware , ntune respectively ,followed by ntray and nhancer. i got normal fps again in sli. However i only got about 8700 marks in 4dmark 06. This may due to driver problem or cpu bottleneck. But another problem gives rise, i cannot load Nhancer , it says some xml problem .May i got mess up the sli profile when i am uninstalling the drivers.

How can i solve the Nhancer problem?
