These are the buggiest drivers Nvidia has ever released. I get all kinds of graphic distortions with menus in games like Tiger Woods 2007, Fear: Extraction Point and The Godfather. These probems occur if I run a 3DMark benchmark before the games.

The thing I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE IS THIS PIECE OF CRAP CONTROL PANEL I'M FORCED TO USE. IT IS AN EMBARRASSMENT AND SHOULD BE DUMPED.Over 80% of users DON'T LIKE IT, YET 8800 OWNERS ARE FORCED TO USE IT. NVIDIA SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SERIOUSLY LOOKING AT RETURNING THIS 8800 AND GOING ATI AGAIN. WAKE UP NVIDIA AND DUMP THIS NEW PANEL. YOUR DRIVER TEAM SUCKS FOR FORCING IT ON US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

install NVTray, double click it - set the OLD for CP type. I am running 97.02s with the old CP no problem.

Well stop playing crappy games then :p

Actually I haven't played The Godfather, but that's besides the point. I have had no issues with 97.02 w/ my 8800 and the 4 or 5 games I play.

What kind of "distortions" are we talking about? Like spot or block type artifacts?

Spots and blocks all over the menu.

I also installed NVTray 2 and got the old control panel. I'm happy, but Nvidia needs to include it in future driver releases.

Sounds to me like your card is toast. Unless you are saying the v96's that came with your card don't do any of that.

Yea, sounds like you have a bad card if you are seeing artifacts.

i tried using the 97.02 (laptopvideo2go - modified INF) drivers on my GeForce Go 6800 Ultra, and it causes a long pause or stall while loading the desktop. the performance seemed actually a little smoother in Oblivion, but i couldn't deal with the stalls. is it not optimal to attempt to continue upgrading drivers for this series?

I agree they suck, but your problems sound like you have your memory clocked too high.

Man, it is really getting difficult for those that can't get a girlfriend.

I sure hope nVidia fixes this!

Have you tried the 96.89 drivers? That's what I'm using on my laptop and they've worked fine for me, though I don't have Oblivion.

...i've already told mobilenvidia he needs to add that sedona key back into his infs....

I don't really care about the menu style, look or whatever.. As long as all the options and features work Iím happy.. To much is broken with 97.02 and we need new drivers regardless of what the interface looks like..

Maybe if you lot stopped complaining about trivial issues like the control panel we might actually have some working drivers by now. :thumbdwn:

Shocky, these drivers have been broken BECAUSE of sedona. lol

you can use the old cp. there's a thread about that.

The old CP doesn't have the new AA settings, 8x, 8xQ, 16x, 16xQ. For me the Classic control panel and toolbar does not even have 8x for AA as an option. Plus the program AA enhance options is absent. So 97.02 drivers not up to par I agree with.

Well most of my games work reasoable well for such a new architecture, but it would be nice if they fix the SCDA issue and fix the image sharpening slider in CP.

But I find it a bit strange the're no new beta's which support the G80. In fact it's amazingly quiet on the driverfront....
