Hi.

Please excuse my ignorance if this has been posted somewhere else, I couldn't find the driver for my GeForce Go 7300 card for Windows. One of the rare places that I could have found a modded driver definition is LaptopVideo2Go (http://laptopvideo2go.com/). But this is not official, can anyone please give a reasonable answer to this ?.

You normally get drivers for laptops from the manufacturer of your laptop (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.). The Nvidia drivers are unified though so the same driver usually works well on all Nvidia hardware. The LaptopVideo2Go guys mod the INF files so that the regular desktop gpu drivers can be installed on just about anything. I'd just grab one of theirs for your laptop.

Actually, it looks like Nvidia now provides the GeForce Go 7 Series drivers from their site but like you noted, they don't list the 7300.

The card is bundled with an Acer Aspire notebook, while all the drivers are installed, I don't prefer a bloated version of Windows so I removed it and installed Debian Linux afterward.

(mmm) It could be the case that the series are only installed on selected laptops with customized drivers. It is still strange though, as the 'general' modded driver provided by the LaptopVideo2Go team works for almost all people. I can imagine an ordinary user plucking her hair out trying to find the necessary driver in case she wants to install another version of Windows.

By the way, I've seen people owning the Go family (mine too) experienced many crash problems in X. Effectively, I couldn't utilize a piece of its 3D capabilities in Linux :( . The workaround didn't help and no log file produced either.

Thanks for your reply.
