Have a really strange problem here.

Laptop with XP home was infested with viruses, malware trojans etc

Performed deep cleanup with AVG (norton was broke...and was going anyway) Spybot, even used Sunbelts software (which is very, veery good)
Hijack this, ccleaner, cws shredder etc etc etc

Cleaned all temp files, prefetch startup apps, processes. syste restore points, installed java applets etc, etc, etc

All seemed fine.

then I had to install their new broadband package... all went as planned but now what is happening is that I cannot load web pages at all in internet explorer 6 or 7 or firefox. So i took it to the workshop.

I can ping both ip's and domain names so it's not a dns issue. have reinstalled network drivers and protocols. Installed a new network card as well.... no luck

Then done a repair of the os... no luck
Re installed service pack 2.... no luck
Have used xptcip repair and lspfix... no luck.
Used xp connectivity fix... no luck
Modified MTU settings..... no luck

im really out of choices now and I don't want to do a full backup and reinstall. Anyone got any ideas

P.S
All firewalls uninstalled by the way and the xp firewall is disabled and sorry if this is so fragmented lol!

I say format it and reinstall windows. It will probably be faster to do that then to waste time figuring out how to solve your problems.

seems as though customer had 'acquired' laptop from work and routing tables had been messed with.

Also the winlogon process was infected or corrupt and nothing picked it up... was just a wild guess as the way it was behaving I have seen before so deleted and etracted a new copy and now all is fine :D
