View Full Version : When Suncoast doesn't have their act together

Well this was a little funny. FUNI has gotten around to releasing Dragon Ball (the first series) on un-cut DVD's that do well contain the original Japanese version. They released the Red Ribbon Army saga on the 25th of this month. So I went down to Sun Coast to see if they got it in (no you can't pre-order box sets, they only let people pre-order the individual DVDs and this is being released box set only)...

Well anyway, they told me they don't have it. I asked if the could call the other Sun Coast (at Coronodo Center) and they said like 5 people came in on Tuesday asking about it, they already called over there when others kept asking them about it, and they don't have it either.

So I go over and browse around, and what do you think I find sitting on there shelf, behind a bunch of other DVD's in the Anime section? You guessed it. They had it in stock, and at least 2 or 3 copies I had seen sitting over there.

So I picked one up, walked up to the cashiers counter laughing a bit and told them "Umm, well what did you think I found sitting on the shelf over there?" I showed them the box and mentioned there were several others.

The worst part about it is from their own account, more then a few people had already been in there asking about it, and they ended up losing the sale when they actually had it and didn't remember shelving it or something.

I find it kind of funny when a store doesn't know:

- That they actually do have a number of copies of something in stock (aka their own inventory)

- They already shelved it

- And they never bothered to look at their inventory, or didn't have it written down somewhere to look, to see what they had in stock

- More then a few people (5 people on the first day of release, that morning when the store opened by the person's indication alone) have been asking for it, and they were turning sales down for something they already had :D

I saddened that those idiots working at those types of stores can find their shoes in the morning. That means I have to deal with them. :(

On another note. I do like anime. Ninja scroll and and Ghost in the shell being among my favorite movies. However I really thing DBZ is one of the stupidest shows in exsistance. All they do it stand around grimacing for the entire show. You lucky that if you even see a fight. Then the have "power levels" whoever has the higher one wins. What is this an RPG? I have been playing for a month more than you so I win no matter what! God the show in meant for 10 year old boys.

I had a similar thing happen at Future Shop once. I asked the employee looking after the dvd section if they had Transformers: The Movie on dvd. His response was a definitive "Nope." So I decided to browse the rack and came across about 20 copies of it.

Heh, well after working in Best Buy for a few months, it's easy to miss things like that. A lot of times someone will just place things where they don't belong (like you said, it was behind a bunch of other DVDs), and then not tell everyone so even when they go through and do inventory and don't see it, they mark it as they don't have any. It's especially problematic among stores with lots of employies, or with people who are to lazy to put things in thier proper place (not me, of course ;-). Though it's quite a bit worse when they say they don't have it and it's sitting right out in the open where it should be...

Actually, in this case:

1. The store isn't that big. The store is smaller then my appartment, and my current apartment is only 609 sq ft.

2. It was behind a couple DBZ DVDs in the Anime section. It wasn't like it was mis-filed...but was rather where it belonged.

3. When I go in this one Sun Coast, there is usually only 1 or at most 2 people working there at a time.

The BB around here is over 100x larger then this store...

Oh, BTW, lest I forget, this same Sun Coast also lost my pre-order. I went in to get the new DBZ movie and they said I can't find the pre-order. I remembered ordering it and putting money down specifically. I had to come back holding the form (my copy) and tell them "see, I'm not lieing, imagining things, making something up, trying to pull a fast one, it's here..."

Well, t6_shadow, all I can say is it isn't the originator's fault if FUNI went to cut so much of it out to try to sanitize the show. They also cut out the original series, cut down character development to fit it on US television, etc... I also do see more in the show then you (which partly shows in my user name), however to each their own, and whatever floats your boat...

Yeah well just one more reason I hate censorship in all its forms.
