Is this chip suppose to be an eight core CPU? I read somewhere it's only a quad. And does anyone know where I can get an Intel Roadmap for future chips?

no, just quad core, although i think it may be native.

Yorkfield is native quad-core made on 45nm with 1333fsb and 12mb L2 cache.

3MB cache per core strange combo.

I don't think it's 3MB/core. The way the roadmap says it, it's 2x6MB caches meaning that there is going to be some distinction on the chip between two groups of two cores and those groups are each going to share 6MB cache.

Maybe then the two super-caches will be the "smart caches" like the E6600, E6700 and X6800 have so that if only one core (or in that group, one group of two cores) is being used, it has access to all 12MB.

Maybe. I'm just guessing based on how they wrote it. :)

I think its going to be 6mbx2, so each 2 cores has 6mb of shared cache like the conroe has 4mb of shared cache for the 2 cores. Although i must say, those must be some expensive chips to make.

yah, the amd 4x4 will be cheaper right? :P

Cheaper and so much better to even think about it would cause all of the orifices on one's body to bleed simultaneously.
