I got a ATI 9700 pro last week and I'm well impressed with it's performance. I have a duel boot into Windows XP and ME, i've run 3Dmark 2001 SE under both and get 16164 when in Windows ME and 15505 when XP, this is with exactly the same settings and using CAT 3.1 drivers. Is there any reason why there should be such a big difference in the score under XP. Both OS are clean build and my system specs are;

A7N8X-DLX 1002.A BIOS
XP 2600@12x187
Corsair 2x256MB 3500 ram @ 4-2-2-2 (Sync)
ATI 9700pro @340/335
SB Audigy Platinum EX
Enimax 350W Power Supply

TIA

3dmark tends to favor the Windows 9x core in DirectX (though this wasn't the case for me when I switched from 98SE to 2000 many moons ago).

And 600 points isn't a huge variation either. I would be concerned if the difference was 1000 points or higher. Besides, how is your performance in real games? Have you run tests with UT2003 or any other recent game?

it's just another little thing about XP that sucks. ignore it.

Good Point, I'll try some other benchs.

Win 9x = Faster Direct3D
Win NT = Faster OpenGL
