No INF info for 8800, you can install it for the rest of the cards though, including the GO series.

What the hell is going on? So NV will delay 8800 support for vista, until REAL FW X is rdy?

So no 8800 Vista driver until January 30th? I'm sorry but that's bull****!!! Businesses are able to now buy it starting tomorrow, and OEM's can install it on PC's as well; not to mention the beta testers who received free copies! nVidia is really pissing me the **** off with this whole 8800 bull****!!! As always, thanks for the great work L_O :) Don't think I was ranting at you :)

Well vista is already on my shelf. yes a legal copy too. I just think that nvidia can't get the 8800/vista driver to work right, and that's why the delay. :thumbdwn:

No a lot more than getting it to work right goes in this, we do realise that this will be the first WDDM2.0 card available , Vista runs natively on DX10 which this card needs to support, im quite sure when we do get a driver it will have stars etc shooting out of it :D until then i guess we (nana2) and wait.

They've had so many months to get this driver working, and now they're going to be lazy and say "oh Vista isn't out yet", that's a load of BS! If you're going to come out with DirectX10 hardware, how about delaying it until you get a working DX10 driver! nVidia really let me down here, and they're pissing me the **** off even more now! By the way L_O, Aero is DX9 only, there aren't any DX10 effects to it at all. I have heard that OpenGL will be able to accelerate Aero as well (though they say they'll be able to accelerate it faster...)

At this point I'd take a driver that doesn't even work at all in DirectX but at least shows my high res desktop correctly in 2D.. Why won't they leak something at least that is 2D usable?

and it's not like there are direct 10 games all over the place anyway.

If you want 2D usable just install the XP drivers, they will work in 2D fine.

Downloading now for 7900gt. *Hopes these have better performance and/or more complete CP*

If it is true no 8800 support until the 30th, that really is bad news for 8800 users :(

can anyone actually post how these are instead of bitching about their 8800's? is the cpl functional now?

Ok, so I go and spend about $3,000 on video cards (2x 8800GTX and 2x 8800GTX Watercooled BFG) and I can't install Vista, a released OS, on my either of my new systems because there is no Vista 8800GTX driver...

I'm trying to get my head around this. I really want to understand.

One of the reasons I didn't hesitate to plop down that kind of money is because I felt I was secure because this would be a DirectX 10 card. In fact, right this second I'm seeing the ad scroll above for the inno3d "Full DirectX 10 suppot" ad.

How can they claim DirectX 10 support if I can't use these cards on the only DirectX 10 OS available?

I understand that a driver is comming and all will then be right with the world but that still doesn't change the fact that I've got 4 top end video cards that are useless if my intent is to run Vista.

And DirectX 10 isn't the issue, I don't even have a DirectX 10 game to run right now. I just want to be able to get started building and using my system with Vista.

Was Nvidia hoping to cater to the extremely small niche of "early graphics adopters that don't early adopt OS's"?

I just don't understand what possible excuse Nvidia can have for this...

Except for the fact that Windows will crash if you do any 3D thing, like a screensaver. :(

I'm betting that is a driver bug. And possibly part of the reason for any 8800 driver delay.

That was with the 97.02's; and I haven't tested the 97.28's yet, so I'm not 100% sure it will crash.

it will crash, dont bother we have tried , im sitting at home with a dual 8800's and a Dell 3007, Trust me ive tried everything, now im dual booting to XP to play all my games.

so......1440 by 900 in these? and is there another faster link?

11-29-06, 06:38 PM
I hope 8800 doesn't have any hardware bugs...so they can't make it working under Vista and DX 10.0 :(
I can't find another explanation why 8800 drivers should be delayed...

1440 by 900 still borked, any fix?
