View Full Version : Does Forceware Not Even Support Geforce4 440 Go Card on Vista?
I've tried a bunch of builds/modded infs, nothing worked. Does this card just not support vista entirely?

not entirely, the current drivers only install on Desktop Composition capable cards (DX9+)

Your GPU is not up to Vista.
You will need a proper Pixel Shader capable GPU before you'll be able to run Vista (with Aero)
The very lowest GPU you can run Vista with (on a laptop) is a go5200 and this will only just run it. (Aero)
Time to upgrade

Incorrect,
His card will work fine, with Vista, Desktop composition will not be enabled though, so yeah aero won't work,.. but vista will
you won't be able to run any games though. Dx7 is now run through Dx9 code

You are also incorrect, as I'm quite sure his driver will install with a code 43 error (as mine did)
He will be stuck in VGA mode and Vista will be completely unusable (try playing Solataire in VGA mode)
There is nothing that I know to fix the code 43 errors with older GPU's
Quite strange as my Wifes Dell D410 with the i915 chipset which performs similar to a GF4 440go does work with Vista (no Aero) desktop accelleration.
Upgrade if you really want Vista, or stick with XP and your current GPU
