I found a presentation (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=15381&type=wmv&pl=game) of Hellgate: London DX10 features on a G80.The game looks really tasty and the extra DX10 effects look very good.
Don't flame me but its seems the game is not running very good frames.:(

Sweet. I'm sure my two 8800GTS's will run it like a dream (sort of :p).

Yeah. I've hear others who witnessed the live demo comment on the choppy framerate. Still time to iron out all the bugs.

Yeah seemed a bit choppy, but its not final so you never know..
Bit ironic how when they boast about the shadow (which IS pretty neat) you clearly see that nothing else is casting a shadow..
The effects they demoed were pretty cool, the smoke, the shadow, the rain using texture arrays and the rainsplash..
But outside of those features, it didnt really look all that great.. they sorta stood out against a pretty plain background of graphics..
And that might be the case for alot of the early adopters of DX10 with games, since they didnt start the production for that sort of hardware, but rather layered effects onto the existing game..

Game is still a year away... I wont complain about performance at this point.

Pretty shabby presentation, hardly inspiring, even if it is a year away. The way, whoever was controlling that character, jumping around like an idiot, just needs shooting.

I think they jumped the gun on showing this. Not to impressive in these early stages.

Agreed, not impressive at all. Awful frame rate, mediocre textures, very poor animation.

For every person saying "It's too early to show!" I hear another 50 saying "Why haven't we seen any DX10 stuff yet?" :screwy:

Is its just me or has every DX10 game been delayed to late 2007 apart from Alan Wake.

I am surprised people on here are doing that with games that are ages away.... :p

You think Alan Wake is coming out in '07?

People are forgetting about how choppy GoW ran in presentation compared to the 100% fluid experience of the final game ;)

Its "supposed" to launch close to Vista but I haven't found any fixed dates.

Close to Vista? HAH! I highly doubt that.

Where did you see this "close to vista" release? Rumor?

30fps is 50% fluidity, not 100. :)

IIRC Alan Wake forums.

Well hopefully it will be true, but I haven't seen an anticipated game come out on schedule in years.

So all films run at 50% speed? Thats just retarded comment... 30FPS is perfectly smooth as long as the developer builds the game around it. Look at resistance if you weren't told it was running at a constant 30FPS you would have thought it was at 60FPS+ considering how fast and frantic it plays at times.

People have just a preconcieved notion that 30FPS is slow or choppy when its not at all if the game is locked at it. PC gamers think its bad because its rare that any PC game is ever locked at a FPS.

I actually thought the game looked awesome. I mean, it wasn't perfect- but I think when it is finally released it'll be great.

Films are usually interlaced..
TV is, 25fps for PAL (or 24 or something) and 30 for NTSC if I recall right.
But its interlaced, so every frame, or field, is just every other line, while the next field is the other lines..
Basicly it displays like like the double, IE 50 or 60 fps.
30 fps noninterlaced, like we display games, isnt very smooth.. Its bearable in some type of games, but its more noticable in faster games.

I would say 60 FPS is for PC what 30 fps is for film..
Atleast for first person games, RTSes, RPGs and the like arent that sensitive..
I mean, I can play oblivion on this 6800GT so.. hehe

EDIT
And there are PC games with locked FPS..
Doom III is locked at 60 fps (with the engine tic locked to 60 updates/sec)
Battlefield 2 and 2142 is capped at 100fps I belive..
Not that comon tho, mainly for MP purpouses I guess, those locks get in the way of benchmarking and stuff.

BFMEI & II are locked @30fps aswell as some other console ports like Silent Hill ..
