I search in the forum but dont found something about it. Nvidia will fully release their gpu driver source code? maybe in gpl?
ATI would just love to have nvidia's source code now wouldn't they? Can you say $$$
Keeping the source closed helps nvidia maintain a competitive advantage.

hummmm, the nvidia code can be used in ati cards? the code inst specific? or maybe the code is specific but the unified driver dont? this is a good reason, thanks....

Not necessarily, but that isn't the point. If nvidia was to release their source, anyone could study it, not just ATI.. NVIDIA doesn't want to help out ATI with their driver development process, nor do they want other new and emerging graphics card companies to compete against either.. That lowers their profits!

Or maybe, the world of developers would find ways to improve the drivers, improve their OS implementation, and add new features.
Linux users, who want only open-source drivers, would be driven to purchase Nvidia cards.. That increases their profits!
