I think I'm starting to see a biblical pattern in all of this...

the book of revelation may contain the answer as to when the Vista G80 drivers will be released:bleh:

Hmmmmmph.....I can wait on the Vista drivers.....since I am waiting on my Beta team copy of Ultimate to arrive in February, but it sure would be nice to get some better XP drivers that don't have the memory speed bug and the silverry/foggy characters in Source engine games....

mobilenvidia, I really don't mean to offend you, but I'm sick of reading your sh*t.

You keep posting things like
"The no 8800 gripers hopefully won't have to wait long as there is salvation ;)
I have seen the light"
"My lips are sealed, just be happy that 8800 and Vista is not far away but SLI will be a longer wait.
"Nope, put back another 2.5 weeks. I'll say no more "
etc etc.

It's obvious you don't know sh*t, it's obvious you have no connection with nvidia any more than the rest of us, it's obvious you're under no NDA, so stop with it already.

if you knew about what is going on around here he obviously has an insider at nvidia. he doesn't have to be under NDA to be careful about what is said. years ago we had people on this very board that got fired from nvidia for releasing information on up coming products and i'm sure he is very mindful of it. also if you were a dev you would know that even thoe a piece of software looks good and may behave in beta but right before you release it a major bug is found setting it back weeks. so either which way, a person mindful of this two situations would do what he is saying...its called being cautious...

No I really don't want to offend him, but he needs a strong warning to cut the crap. He keeps giving people hope that the driver will be released in a few days. When I read things like that, I keep checking this board 100 times a day to see if anything's been released. Each time I see that it's not, I get disappointed. Then he posts something saying that it was postponed.

I could do the same thing. I could make a new post right now saying "The driver will be released in 4 days. I can't really say exactly when or how since I have close connections with nvidia and I'm under NDA." Then when 4 days passes, I'll post this: "Sorry guys, there was a problem with the opengl interface and the release was postponed." Do you see how easy it is to deceive people? All it takes is a couple of posts.

I don't really believe he's lying, but if he really knew something, we'd long have the drivers right now with all the promises he's made.

^mobilenvidia's done alot, for free, to help folks out here without asking anything in return. Which is why most just take him at his word. That said, unexpected delays pop up with everything from drivers to games, why get worked up over it?

As far as Vista RTM goes, the 8800 driver is only one driver woe among a few you may encounter. NVIDIA is by no means the only company that doesn't have Vista drivers ready to go (and, actually, they do have Vista drivers for all but the 8800 series). If you have a wireless network card in your system, good luck, depending on the brand and model you have. I have a Belkin wireless-G card, which worked under the Vista betas and RCs, but there are no Belkin drivers at all in Vista RTM. (I eventually discovered the Atherton driver works for my Belkin card.) That goes for sound cards too. TV tuner? Good luck.

The lack of 8800 drivers is not the only problem right now. If they were available and you had a fully functional system under Vista, you'd probably be in the minority. Even if your system worked fine under the betas and RCs it's no guarantee those same drivers are available in Vista RTM. Many companies, like NVIDIA, have specifically stated, like NVIDIA, that drivers will not be released until the end of January.
