Hi guys, I am new on the forums. I have had the 8800gtx for a few weeks now, and love it. But I have some concerns now about Vista. Microsoft is coming to my school this thursday and giving a free, full version of Vista to the people who were able to secure a ticket for the seminar. Well I am one of those... So am I not going to be able to install vista with my 8800 because there will be no video being output? Or will I just not be able to play games?

It installs fine just no drivers yet.

The resolution is like 800x600, lol

(In device Manager the device is listed as "Standard VGA Adapter")

Either install a dual boot and keep XP for general use until Vista drivers are out.
Or hold of Installing vista until the drivers are out.

Why would you buy an 8800 GTX and expect it to work under DirectX 10 in Vista?

</end sarcasm>

Get Vista and hold onto it until the drivers come out. They should be out within a month maybe. 2 and the most. Or get the copy of Vista and send it to me :D

Why would you want Vista drivers when theres no DirectX 10 games out?

Oh wait... To run existing DirectX 9 games without dual-booting to XP...

</end sarcasm>

FS X is not DX10. MS said that they will be begin working on a DX10 patch once Vista is released, and only then. Seems like a bunch of people are confused because of the earlier artists conceptual rendering showing what FS X might look like under Vista and DX10, whereas in fact there is no DX10 support in FS X as it stands.

UT2k7 is another game to be patched with DX10 support down the road.

Don't worry, TheInquirer said that Vista drivers 'may' be coming out 'sometime' before Vista's Retail release...
