View Full Version : Dell 2407 owners - brightness/contrast?

I was wondering what some of you are using for brightness and contrast on your 2407 when playing games. I am currently at 45 on brightness on the monitor and contrast is at default 100% using the Nvidia color correction tab. I have sharpness at default 50 at the moment.

Dude, there's an entire 104 page thread about this monitor right above this thread.

Yes I saw that thread but my searches did not come up with any settings. I am basically at default levels for brightness/contrast right now but was curious what other people were using.

i meant more that perhaps you could have posted in that thread instead of starting a brand new one.

Brightness at 30 (I think that's the default...) contrast...not sure. Whatever the default is.

Remember to select the desktop setting in your monitor, donít go for "Game setting" it could mess up the brightness. And you might want to use the nv control panel settings to set your monitor settings specially with the new drivers.

Yeah, I remember reading about the color banding that got fixed but only in desktop mode. I just wish this monitor would allow for 1:1 mapping at 1920x1080 since that would be great for my 360.

If you use the DVI connect then there will be no contrast control. You will have to make adjustments to the contrast at the video driver level. Since the last time I tested a 360 with the 2407 I found that the component option was not satisfactory (the gama level is way off) and the VGA option was washed out and bland. (tested with A02 rev).

I have the older model monitor, but the first thing I've always done when installing new drivers is create two color profiles; one I name Default, and one I name Games.

I use the taskbar icon to switch between the two.

Well the colors look fine on my Xbox 360 using VGA cables on the 2407 A03 I have but the option to adjust monitor scaling is greyed out when trying to run at 1080p mode. I will say the monitor looks fantastic and is great for PC gaming since I have options to scale to aspect ratio or use 1:1 pixel mapping in the control panel. As for console gaming it is okay but not being able to use it at 1080p or having to live with it stretching the image to 1920x1200 is a bit annoying so I run it at 720p mode and set it to aspect ratio on the monitor.
