Once it releases I will be going Core 2.

My chances to go C2D also increase with this release. I can't blindly adopt a CPU without having a platform that I like too.

However, I doubt the first batch of these boards will be without their probs. I haven't had a good first release mobo in a while. My first Asus a8n and my first DFI SLI-DR crapped out on me, but I purchased them early in the product cycle.

It will be a little longer, but dont expect it to be very great compared to the others.

Are you serious? DFI has always been about making enthusiast boards. I can see the 680i being an awesome board.

I too am waiting for this board before jumping on the C2D bandwagon.

i came across nvnews doing a google search for the DFI 680i MB... i like the pics posted here, very nice looking... i've heard people mention it might be released in early january... wasn't sure myself so i fired a quick e-mail off to DFI sales and here is the response::

Dear Sirs,

Should be by Chinese New Year holiday. (around middle of Feb.)

Best regards,

kinda depressing if you ask me... thats what two full months away??? arghhh... i hate waiting... at least they responded i didn't think i'd hear anything back =/

i'd assume most / all other brands will be realeased before then...i'd still say there is a chance dfi680i (650??) will be out sooner...anyway an interesting email nonetheless. For me it will depend on how good other offerings are and also how available the various 650/680i flavours are where i am in australia.

i also hate waiting....

No they haven't been canceled and there are already reviewers who got em.

You should see them in stores within a week, but they will sell out rather fast I am guessing. Some are up on ebay now.

Well if that is true, it is just for the initial launch. Selling just 45 boards wouldn't make up for the R&D costs. There will be plenty more available as supply increases.

wait, whats the LT stand for? does the LT refer to DFI's board, or the 680i chipset itself?

good point J-Mag. i didnt know if they were going to do a main release in Japan or make it a limited edition motherboard or something.

Sucks that its the 680i LT Version. :(

Why would you say that?

It has all the functionality of a standard 680i except linkboost which is worthless. ASUS just released a BIOS for their striker to remove linkboost because it was causing problems.

The NB chip of the 680i, 680LT and 680 ultra are all exactly the same. It's the PCB where the differences lay and because DFI decided not to use reference layout they will implement features normally missing on reference LT boards.

I'll see how it all goes but from what I have seen with the eVGA board Im not too impressed (well the board looked like **** in comparison to all other boards).

BTW The Asus P5N32 SLi Plus rocks! I gained new respect for Asus, was never a fan but man I love this board.

Are you talking about the EVGA LT board?

The DFI looks nothing like it at all...

Really nice layout imo. SLI plus two usable PCI slots!

Agreed. DFI has had a lock on the best layouts since the dawn of SLI.

OK but what does this have to do with anything?
