Haha that's a retail box? It's got to be a joke. Looks like someone got busy with a color printer and clear packing tape! :D

This whole post and all it embodies just makes me want to cry. I have been waiting to upgrade since November thinking Feb/March would be a kick ass time in the industry with all kinds to choose from. Hmmm... let's see. My choices are ATI 9700 Pro and 9500 Pro and of course there is the 9700 Pro and the 9500 Pro. Oh and don't forget the 9700 Pro and 9500 pro. I hear they are good too. I really thought I could stay nVidia for 2003. No longer looks that way.

March / April look awesome for upgrading... Pentium 3.2GHz 800MHz FSB / Canterwood... 9800 Pro... Drool..... I know what I'm getting before this summer! Hehehe. Would be getting a FX Ultra, but the lack of a 256-bit bus hinders my decision. Oh well! Heh.

Hrm, then that means the price of the stuff that's available now should (theoretically) drop. Should that be the case, I may just pick up a new system after all. :D

Im mad, i missed out on newegg's sellout of the Evga Gffx Ultra!

It was in the funny "brown box" with the ega logo taped on it. Im not sure what thats all about, but thats how the Quadro Fx's were being sold too heh.

Now for the speculation, was the sell out because of overwhelming demand or not enough supply!

as an nvidia supporter im going for demand :D

lol how much $$ were they?

430 bucks...and this early I'd have to say the supply is very limited and likely will be for awhile as it is every other time NV has launched a product. GF3 came out in like march but it was nearly may before it had widespread availability.

yeah 430, they were price gougeing, but the same thing was done when the P4 3.06's came out!

Remember that's the first badge.
There should be some more available in the next few weeks.
The real question is wether anyone will still want them once they'll have seen what the $399 R350 is capable of...

Ricercar: Eh, at least they can't say you didn't inform yourself on the card before trying to buy it! :) Oh, and check your PM!

I emailed eVGA sales asking why newegg had GeForce 5800 Ultra when they were not available on eVGA .com. Here is the reply.

Email from sales@evga

We received only a few quantities of the GeForce FX. However, we will be receiving more in our 2nd shipment from NVIDIA. Currently, there is no ETA but we will have it available for you [on the evga.com website] once we received them. Thanks.

Just wait 30 more days and get a nice 9800 Pro FX killer. :)
I am. I was going to get a FX U but no way after seeing the 9800 Pro's specs at FIC. :D

I thought the Ultra was supposed to be $399 and the non-Ultra cheaper

those EVGA's were the refrence desgin. In my PCGamer mag they show ones with new desgins, and they say u can trade in your TNT2 and above cards for a rebate or something. for the FX. They say they have 1 slot cooling solutions also with diffrent faceplates.

Thats taken fromt he PCGamer ad. but u can try http://www.evga.com/pcgamer

isnt updated yet though

i imagine they are trying to get as much money for them as they can while there is still not much for reviews out to show where it realy stands against the compitition.

Same was supposed to be true for Geforce 4 Ti's. The 4600 went for 425 bucks on newegg when it hit the retailer.

Wow, my pre-order (Now canceled..thank God) was $399 for the Ultra. Now $430? Jeesee! Nvidia (or whomever) is living on cloud 9.
