Delay between X loading and xdm or kdm login screen possible solution

Hi,

I just rebuilt my system and installed the latest drivers and noticed that there was a long delay between starting X (seeing the nvidia logo) and KDM appearing, I resolved mine by reinstalling FONTCONFIG now it is almost instant, just thought I would share this in case it helps anyone here

Good find! Went from 3 mins to 1 sec after installing FONTCONFIG again.

depends, im using gentoo so I just do emerge fontconfig, if you are using a RPM based distro just do rpm -Uvh --force <name of fontconfig rpm>
