Has anyone gotten the new 8800 GTX to work with an Apple Cinema Display? When I boot the computer, I get no video signal at all. Works fine with a 7950GT card, but not the 8800GTX.

Any help is appreciated.

I have a 20" Apple Cinema Display with an XFX 8800 GTX, which all works fine.

I have heard of the 23" model not supporting some of the lower resolutions, and needing the video driver installing with an alternative screen before it started working, but if your 7950gt worked fine then maybe not. No screen at all in the post then it came alive in windows once the driver kicked in.

Also there is a display driver for apple cinema displays at http://sourceforge.net/projects/winacd/ which i'm using, it gives you all the popup controls for brightness, and better support for the screen generally.

It might help...

I have the same problem. According to tech support at eVga, this is a known bug that nVidia is working on. They said it was peculiar to the 8800 GTX running on a 680i motherboard. If you wait for Windows to load, the screen should come on. However, you will not be able to see the boot sequence prior to that. You might also try unplugging the power connector to the monitor after Windows loads. That seems to wake up the monitor as well. Also, I've had good luck changing the ACPI setting in the bios to suspend the monitor with S3(STR) instead of the default setting. This helps with Windows sleep, but it will not fix the initial boot problem.

Yup, its a known bug.

What you need to do is hook it up to another monitor, and install the drivers. Then hook it up to the apple cinema, and the screen will turn on once Windows loads up.

I have this problem with my BFG 8800 GFX even though my screen worked fine with the 7950GX2, it hates the 8800 GTX in boot.
(Also, using 975x Chipset Asus P5W DH)

Any help here appreciated.

The BIOS is located here, you probably want to flash with a different monitor.

Excellent stuff,

Can confirm I've loaded the EVGA firmware onto my BFG 8800GTX and now have my Apple 23" screen available at boot.

Thanks to JakUp and EVGA

To use a ThumbDrive Image use this tool here (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/serveroptions/us/download/23839.html) and follow these instructions:
1. Plug your ThumbDrive in
2. Install and open the HP drive Key Boot utility
3. Choose the drive letter of your ThumbDrive

Hello. Is this only for the EVGA card or does it work with all 8800 cards?

I haven't used the bios update (don't need it) but others on the eVGA forum have used this bios with non eVGA 8800 GTX cards without issue. Those that had other brands had the same text on their screen, and selected to overright. From what I've read it worked fine. I would 100% confirm before doing so though.

How do I get my mac to boot from cd? hold C on reboot like on the mac side? does that work for the windows half? I'm confused! help!? lol
