You do realize that on a 42" screen or smaller, the differences between 720p and 1080p at a standard viewing distances of 7-12' become minimal at best. And on a screen that size 1080p becomes more of a bragging right than someting that will be a glaring difference.
you could see the difference if you were 2-3' away, but that's just plain stupid on a display that size :D
Yea but I never understood why someone would want an HDTV that small. :D

We only watch the tv in the living room but I guess it would be kind of nice to have one in the bedroom. The other rooms? No thanks.

I use a Optoma HD72 ceiling mounted projector. It's 1280x768 (does 1280x720) for HDTV and DVDs that are upscaled. (either via my PC or DVD player)
It is one of the best projectors, at it's price, for HD 720 content. Deep and dark blacks, vibrant color, sharp and crisp even at the 100" projection I do.
I use it daily as my PC monitor too; it's bright enough. It uses an active iris to control brightness, hence why it has such good blacks when needed.
Playing the latest games at 100" and in THX Ultra sound is just an all encompassing blast I must say.

Hi everybody!
I have a Asusu MoBo with a GeForce 6150 connected trought component out/in with a Philips HDTV Monitor 29" model 29PT6456 (CRT) and a Dynacon 5.1 Home Theater Sound System.
I think it is not the best HDTV (1080i) out there but makes me happy watching DVDs and playing games!
http://www.ghsix.com.br/allan/img/bedtheater.jpg
I do all that with my Mandriva Linux 2007 PowerPack!!! :captnkill:
Here's mine:
JVC HD61FN97
Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR cable box
XBOX 360 w/ HD DVD (my awesome wife found a premium system at a garage sale for 150 bucks)
Yamaha RX-V420
Klipsch mains, center, and sub
Mirage rear satellites
Logitech Harmony remote for XBOX 360
Logitech DiNovo Edge (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-967685-0403-diNovo-Edge/dp/B000J43HJ8/sr=8-1/qid=1168791276/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-4541825-0499921?ie=UTF8&s=electronics) Keyboard
(waiting for 8800 Vista driver to complete the HTPC)
Not long now to wait for the Vista drivers. Once available I'll be able to use the system as a media hub to distribute TV and movies to the other TVs in the house.
The Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard is drop-dead sexy (props to J-Mag for pointing it out to me). Just holding it in your hands gives you a woody and compels you to surf porn. It's almost a piece of art.
How do you like that set? Im contemplating between the sxrd and this one.
I have a Westinghouse LVM37-W3 in my living room. Since I live in a small apartment it is a good size in that room.
In my bedroom I have a Westinghouse LTV27-W7 and I am using a Dell 2407 on my PC.

It's a great TV. It was on display next to the Sony when I bought it and, imo, had a better picture, but usually in-store displays aren't properly calibrated so without having a direct comparison of calibrated sets side-by-side at my house, it's hard to really say which one ultimately has the better picture.
The one gripe I do have is that the JVC only does 640x480 and 1024x768 over the VGA connection, and only does 1080i over component. Because of that I can't set the XBOX 360 to 1080P. I believe the Sony will do 1080P over the VGA connection so that's a definite plus for the Sony. Fortunately the JVC has a great internal scaler, so I'm not really missing much in that department. Additionally, the Sony has a wider range of user controls to adjust the picture. You can manage the same type of fine-grained control by going into the service menu of the JVC, but it would have been nice if they'd have put some of those, like geometry control, in the user menu instead.
If you can get the Sony for the same price as the JVC, go for the Sony. But I don't think you can go wrong with either set. Both are fine pieces of equipment.

Here's my updated system configuration with my new 46" Sony Bravia LCD Television - 1080p Model: KDL46V25L1 I returned the Vizio 46" HD LCD Model: GV46L because of poor quality issues and because it wasn't a true HD television due to the fact that it can only produce 1366 X 768
I wanted a true 1080p television. The Sony Bravia LCD does 1920 x 1080p vs 1366 X 768 720p, 1080i

I'm old school. I've got a 65" Mitsubishi RPTV. Bought it on sale right after the 1st DLP sets were released. Mine only has component ins, no DVI or HDMI.
That's ok though. It was an awesome price at the time ($2000 in late 2003 I think) and is still running great.

That's a nice setup, especially considering how much more expensive electronics are in Brasil. When I was in Campinas for work back in June/July, I was amazed at how expensive the electronics were, especially when you consider that they were at least a revision or 2 behind.
For example, a 1GB SD Card was ~$225 (about 500 reais at the time, I think). That's just crazy talk!

CRT's are great HDTV's bro.
As far as absolute PQ, my 36" Sony 1080i is better than my 70" Sony 1080p.

I owned this TV http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/hdtvs/284/loewe-aconda-38-inch-hdtv-monitor.html it had the best HD picture I have ever seen to this day, but it decided to take a dump on me :thumbdwn: but yeah your right CRTs are great HDTVs, just a bit bulky though.

I said that because all the time I see peoples using their huge HDTV Flat Panels to browse the web, but I'm unable to use like this.
I can play games and watch movies but when I try the desktop, the text becomes so small that is impossible to be read.
Only OSD text with the oXine media player can be read.
Can some one browse the web at 720p or 1080i?

Yes. It isn't the resolution that's making your text too small to read, it's the screen size.

Here's my setup in my room.
Main reason for the purchase of the TV was my Xbox 360 and watching movies from my PC through the TV.
TV = Mitsubitshi WD-52631 1080p
Receiver = Harman Kardon AVR320
Speakers = Infinity something or other (can't remember model) they're decent but not great.
Game System = Xbox 360 Premium connected via Component (duh!) running at 1080i

I didn't think much when getting good pictures since I was recording South Park (should have setup DVD through 360 or something). I will say that SD looks like crap on this TV though but I will chalk that up to my crappy Sat Connection, that will be fixed once my HD Receiver comes in. I also ordered the AVIA Dvd to hopefully help me properly calibrate my TV but I am thinking about getting it calibrated by an ISF Tech.
