View Full Version : EVGA 7950 GT 512MB!

Iv had the EVGA 7950 GT 512MB just afew weeks, ive had two 7900 GTX's in the past(both different brands XFX & Point of View)that i have RAM'd due to faulty ram, that card is a EVGA a very good brand i belive?

The two 7900 GTX's used to lock up on the deep freeze in 3dmark06 and i would have to restart my system, this 7950 GT however runs 3dmark06 fine with no problems and i get a normal score.

Ive been playing BF2142 and have been getting images like in the pic(these images do not happen in 3dmark06) and i dont always get them while playing, some days they are there some there not, does anybody know what could be causing them?

I have the latest drivers/bios version for my motherboard, my display drivers are the latest nvidia v93.71, nothing in my system is overclocked, my system/gfx card is dust free(i have dust filters), the card rises to 50-55c max under load so im sure its not overheating, the cards bios version is!

When i installed the v93.71 drivers i removed the older drivers with driver cleaner pro in safe mode!

If you need any more info then please ask, see my sig for my rig!

If i was to phone EVGA tech support what would i say those images where? artifacting?

Anybody know what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

I would try other game or applications as well to see if any others do the same. You can locate a lot of downloadable demos at www.nvidia.com. I have seen faulty cards work properly in 3dMark, as I am sure EVGA has. If possible you might want to try the card in another system (as i am sure they will suggest that.)

Atojar, i had exactly the same problem with a 7600GS some time ago. 3DM06 runs perfectly fine but saw similar triangles like in your pic in BF2142. Other games like CSS could look fine for let's say half an hour but then **** happens.

I've tried 3 different drivers etcetera but nothing worked. Swapping the 7600GS for a 8800GTX and problems went away instantly. So i guess the card must be faulty.

The other day i unistalled BF2142, uninstalled the nvidia drivers with driver cleaner pro in safe mode! done a fresh drive install and a fresh BF2142 install, ive played the game for a good few hours for two days and had no more problems as yet!...... if it happens again ill RMA it, its registered with EVGA so im sure it has a lifetime warrenty, i plan on upgrading to a 8800 in the new year anyway!

Try the 91.47 drivers. Anything above that is crap, IMHO.

Seeing such artifacts tends too mean the GPU is too far overclocked, snow being memory. As this is a pre overclocked card, that eVGA does might want to try to reduce this, also heat an cause this problem too.

I had the 91.47 drivers until they started giving me crap in BF2...
