“We are going to do speed-up sorted G80 cards,” a source close to OCZ Technology said Friday.

For those lazy people, it says that they aren't going to ship them overclocked but "pre-test" them so they can guarantee them to work at a higher clock speed.

Hmmm, I guess if you do not already have an 8800 card, they would be a good choice. But, if they go after the OC crowd, who most likely already have an 8800 series card, then the pickings may be a little slim. Unless, of course, their cards perform quite a bit better. It will be an interesting item to follow.

even the fact that the intend to overclock them will piss Nvidia off guaranteed.

They do not intend to do it themselves. So, the liability is removed and the possible PR issues along with the factory OC prohibition. But, they can and will support end user OC efforts, much like EVGA, but they will cater to the OC crowd with "binned" cards. Will ahve to wait and see if this is approach is effective or simply a novel idea.

haha, nvidia got sick of being bothered by those companies, plus they've prolly found that it OC's safely.

Maybe that's why the eVGA 8800gtx ACS 3 is delayed a bit- so they can ship it clocked higher :)

...maybe? Or they could sell non-oc'd ones and then sell OC'd ones afterwards for more? =)
