Problems with Sketchup on Vista x86 with 97.64

I cannot get Sketchup (build 305, latest version) to start on Vista 32bit with a 7800GTX running any of the Vista drivers. Most recent I have is 97.34. Once the application window opens, it immediately locks up and stops responding, forcing a hard close via task manager.

If I start in safe mode, or load the standard VGA driver, then Sketchup will start without any problem.

Most likely problem is some incompatibility with the OpenGL implementation. Anyone know a workaround ?

Afaik, all available vista drivers are still very much beta, aero functionality is pretty much it atm. You may have to wait for a fully functional build.

I got it working after digging through the registry and experimenting.

HKLM/Software/Google/Goold Sketchp5/GLConfig5/Display/
I manually changed FIRST_TIME and HW_OK to "1" and now it is working.

For some reason it would not auto detect the GL hardware. And before making the registry edits, it would crash before I could get to the Windows>Preferences>OpenGL dialog box.
