My roomates and I are curious if more people play CS at one time or WoW? I'm for WoW, anyone have any idea? I know they now have over 7,000,000 subscribers but I have no idea how many play at the same time. Thanks

WoW by far. 7 million, figure average person plays 2-3 hours per day. And WoW is worldwide now as well, I'd say at the very least 200-300,000 are online in the wow universe at any given time.

CS is probably topping out at 100,000 during busy times, that's for both CS and CS:S

WoW is the biggest on line game.

CS:S is pathetic. A re-texured game from 1998 is sad.

You mean aside from the fact that the 1998 version is still the most widely played competitive online game ever, and is still the most competitive game out there now? Then yeah, I guess you're right.

If you look at Xfire user stats, which there are enough of to paint a pretty clear picture, WoW has almost 2x the minutes played versus CS:S, which is second. Interestingly enough, CoD2 is right behind CS:S. And still Activision decided to go console only.

I wouldn't say Xfire is very accurate when it comes to players online at any one time. It's more a representation of players online + how long they play for and since cs is a great game to just pick up and play a few rounds compared to WoW 5 hour grinds. It's also dependent on whether gamers use it at all, for some games there really isn't much need for it. I'd say 500,000 people online would be a reasonable guess but I'd be interested to know the daily numbers and trends.
