Well 97.34 seems to be working fine but I haven't tried games yet.

I'm going to almost promise you, no 8800 support, and these are only for laptops...

...With zero improvements over 97.35 :bleh:

If only they'd have a more than barebones CP and performance that's somewhere near XP's they will be worthwhile for games. Any 8800 users wishing to play games on Vista will be sorely dissapointed at this stage even if these drivers do support 8800 series.

sometimes i really wonder what happened to testing drivers or benchmarking or the pure joy of it for the matter, sometimes i wonder why i bother uploading, something is better than nothing right, besides these have fixes and they only support the Desktop adapaters, you can add the go inf's if you wish.

Work fine on my QuadroNVS

We're not all as synacle as some :)
And appreciate these driver releases to see for our selves if they are better or just plain crap.

Once you have them uploaded, I can host them for the masses and offer a modded INF for those who's GPU's arn't included.

Sorry if I sounded ungrateful, that was not my intention.

My comments are focused on nvidia, many of us are disappointed with the current driver situation under Vista and XP, especially 8800 users.

thanks, downloading now. *hopes for improvement* :captnkill:

You passed comments on a driver you hadn't tested yet :)
I think you should head to Victoria or Tassy and fight fires for your presumptions ;)

haha yeh well turned out my presumption was completely wrong :D

I was going by the fact that all the way from 96.33 to 97.35 there was no difference in performance or features, not including bugfixes so I (sinfully wrongly :o ) assumed 97.46 would be the same.

People, there is now Color Settings in CP!!! Rejoice! (nana2)

Now to test performance...

so does it work with the 8800's in Vista? If not, it's just another useless release.

Except maybe for that half dozen number of people that cling onto old cards such as the 7xxx series?

Any idea if these drivers speed up Source games at all?
And maybe FEAR? Bought it just after installing Vista and well shadows were an issue! :D

But then I didn't try em with the 97.3x drivers.

Ugh getting a bit tired of these 8800 owners who think they're the be all and end all of everything.

Don't be daft, 8800 is not the only non "useless" feature they could add to the drivers, 95% of the features are missing in the first place, anything they add use useful.

8800 users are just going to have to accept the fact that their cards are a massive change in design from previous generations and require drivers built from the ground up, it's not just simply a case of modifying and inf files anymore.

Well just did a 3DMark06 test, 600 points lower than XP which isnt too bad... but in-game performance is still poor.

Vsync seems broken in this release, I think it worked in previous releases.

For Vista vs XP peformance, perfect example is CSS... in XP say on dust2 it stays at 60fps vsync limit 90% of the time. In Vista... 90% of the time it hovers around 30.

Drivers still dont support AA via CP... so you cant force 2xQ AA for example, but you can set AA settings in games that support AA via their options.

Still, this driver is a step forward. Seems marginally better than previous Vista drivers for in-game performance.

so does it work with the 8800's in Vista? If not, it's just another useless release.

Actually this "bloated" Vista (DX10) support with the 8800 is not NVIDIA's fault but more like Microsoft's.

(Don't ask why because I can't tell... NDA)

Can someone test on a widescreen monitor with 1440x900, pls? if not i'll test them when i get home, but that could take a while (5-6 hours)

Concerning gaming experiences....in wow, with the same resolution (forgot which but it was arround 1280*800 or so since 1440*900 is impossible in the latest nvidia drivers for vista) i had 125 fps in XP with everything maxed/on and 90-95 in vista with the same settings. card is 7900GT BFG and vista drivers were 97.19, while on xp i had 93.81. didn't try any other game. also shadows on vista looked a bit weird.

Interesting, what exactly lead you to think that?

Loads of people sign NDA's for lots of things in the IT world, hardly supprising to see somoene mention it on a forum, especially when concerning unreleased software/OS's/drivers.
