Putting my C2D 8800GTX SLI system together and ran into this. There are two of these 80mm fans on the back of my case (Silverstone TJ-03), but I don't think I've ever seen three pin connectors like these. They won't plug into the standard case fan plugs on the mobo and I have no adapters that will fit.

THey sure look like the conenctors that video cards use. But that would be stupid to have case fans like that. Also some PSU support them kind of connections also my ThermalTake true power 480w did.

Yeah, looks like oversize vid card connectors to me too. Weird.

That looks like a floppy power connector, your PSU should have at least 1.

?? Pretty sure mini molex connectors (the ones floppy drives use) are 4 pin....and even it they were 4 pin, that connecter is of the wrong gender.

That's a really weird connector. I've never seen one like that before...

Thats a closeup shot right?

3 pin... ground, power, and a pulse width modulation signal for speed.

Yes, but the plug doesn't fit the standard mobo header.

I found a review of another Silverstone case where the reviewer was bitching about the same oddball plug on the fan. I called Silverstone and they said they will ship me two of the standard type of fans on Monday.

$20 says they ship me the same kind I already have...

thats funny because my watercooling kit, the fan for it has that connector. I just forced it onto one of the motherboard headers and it works lol.

LOL, I did kinda push it on, but then chickened out.

I cheated though and ground the holes slightly larger with my knife so it would push on easier. (nana2)

I have always wondered how to insert fans into these ports on the motherboard shown below took me a little time to search the net to understand that their are 3 pin connectors for fans and that the case fans i have didn't have those... Anyone know which is better... To let my fans be controlled by the zalman ZM-MFC1 fan controller or the motherboard... Have to buy myself 4 pin molex to 3 pin molex connectors either way...
