How does a Radeon 9500 Non-Pro (non-mod) compare to:

GeForce3 Ti500
GeForce4 Ti4200
GeForce4 Ti4400
GeForce4 Ti4600

I currently have a Ti500 and want to upgrade with minimal cost. I am interested in this card also because it seems as though if you find the Sapphire Red PCB with L-shaped memory config you *may* be able to mod it to a 9700. If I am not successful, am I stuck with a card that is the same as what I currently have? Should I just get a Ti4200 and screw it? Thanks.

Ti4200, but it beats all of the above with AA & AF.

If you do the 9500 to 9500 PRO Software hack (enabling the 4 disabled pipelines), and it is successful, then it compares more closely to the Ti4600.

How much difference is there running a card that supports AGP 8x on a system that only supports AGP 4x?

I understand the increase in throughput capability, but how does this translate in real life or in 3D Mark 2001SE score? Does 8x vs 4x make any difference really?

Thanks.

Pretty much no difference whatsoever.

I had a 9500NP for a short time before trading up to a 9700 Pro.

Suprisingly good as it is (I'd take it over the Ti4400 I had before) and the best value video card EVER in "9700NP-mode", if successfully modded.

With out FSAA & AA it's as fast as the TI500~Ti4200 but with them enabled about TI4600 speeds. With the 8 pixle pipelines enabled TI4600 speeds.

I do wish people would stop giving out incorrect information...

if you have not done this or understand what is entailed by doing this DO NOT RECOMMEND IT... its that simple...

the people who are modding effectively void their warranty... ethically at least...

the mod is from a 9500 non-PRO to a 9700 non-PRO... do @ your own risk... ati has already cracked down on companies selling 9500 non-PRO's on 9700 non-PRO boards... therefore the chances of getting such a board to do the software mod is more limited..

the 9500 non-PRO is the slowest r300 board and was designed to compete with the gf4mx lineup... which it handily spanks...
