Garg looks good, it all looks good. Would be worth a complete replay when it comes out with those graphics.

I agree.

And I cannot believe how awesome this mod looks. These guys are doing a phenomenal job.

They still have a really long way to go, so I hope they can stick with it. I've spent a crap load of time on mods before (like the ones for Oblivion) but this is something else... they are remaking an entire game, and doing an excellent job of it. It has to be hard.

They seriously must have no personal lives at all to be able to put out quality work like that in their spare time. Hopefully someone is giving them a little $$$ on the side as a donation.

I'm sure their all looking at future jobs as game developers because of this too. Thats probably the biggest incentive.

It wouldn't surprise me if Valve hired the lot of 'em. :p

I hope they do. Honestly, if they totally remade Half-Life and it was everything that the game originally was, but it looked as good as the stuff we're seeing now, I'd fully support buying this for a reasonable price (either by Valve hiring them and selling the work, or by Valve just allowing them to sell it through steam).

I've only played through Half-Life once, but I'd definitely give it another run through with graphics like that.

Wow that is incredible. I totally forgot about that mod. Thanks for the update :)

EDIT: And wow I just noticed a Deux Ex graphics remake mod in works as well! http://mods.moddb.com/4470/project-hdtp/
That's awesome. Kudos to all the dudes working on mods for free

There is another mod called Deus Ex: Reborn. They are working on porting the game to the UT2004 engine. I think the progress is on hold for now though.

Thanks for that link though, I've never seen this one before. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. :)

EDIT: I just looked at some of the videos and screens. I don't know if I really like what they are doing with it. They are changing things that don't really need changed. Like the color of people's clothing, the shape of their faces, and the walking\running animations. They should really just focus on making more detailed versions of the textures and models that are already there rather than trying to make it look different.

Same here. Infact, I wouldn't mind other improvements such as more advanced AI, more complex and realistic physics, and other such features. That would really be awesome. Could you imagine playing through blast pit with all of today's eye-candy and physics capabilities? That'd be sweet! :p

Yeah I guess you're right :/

If I had the skillz I'd be dying to make a perfect remake of Deus Ex. I'd make it my life's project to convert the Deux Ex experience to a new engine, improving here and there, and perhaps even expanding it and/or making sequal. How do you get skills? :(

Read, read, read, get the sdk you want and practice...alot. Don't let disappointment with work get you down. I've gotten reasonably proficient with Radient for D3 and Prey, for a n00b. :p

I may actually release something one day...as for Black Mesa...If this remake or port to Source, what ever it's called, keeps going the way it is, this has the potential to catapult Half-Life 1 right back to the top of the FPS genre..I'll just keep patiently waiting and biting my nails...

I think I might offer my help for the Deus Ex retexture project. From what I've read it seems like everyone is all into redoing models and changing stuff but they don't really seem like they want to really dig in and redo all of the world textures because there are too many. I can pump out 2d textures pretty quick when I get into my groove.

I think they took on too much. Like they really just wanted to make a "deus ex enhancement" mod, not a total high res retexture.

Meh, at work and pages I want are filtered. Pick the game you want to mod or map for and just google tutorials. I find radient for D3, Q4, Prey to be the easiest to work with. SSse editor isn't to bad, but feels clumsy after radient.

If you have D3 google for Doom3 basic room tutorial, and go to Doom3world.org as well. Same for Q4 or Prey.

And I feel bad hijacking a thread, but pm me and I'll get you some good stuff to work with when I get home. cheers..
