so, when vista is released, will you be moving to it, or will you be waiting as long as you can to prevent spending a good deal of money on it?

Going to wait 4-5 months after release for serious issues to be resolved and more stable drivers.

I will switch over to vista whenever there is solid proof that it has performance gains in games that I play or new features that otherwise wouldn't be available in DX9 while maintaining a par on performance.

Yeah, I'm also going to wait a few months for any launch kinks to be worked out and for hardware manufacturers get their drivers up to snuff.

I'll get it as soon as it comes out, but I'm going to dual boot. Win XP will still be my primary operating system- I'm guessing for a long time still.

I'll get Vista when games start making real good use of it that forces me to drop XP.

My HTPC will get Vista Ultimate ASAP. My gaming machine will wait until DX10 games arrive and jAk has done all the testing for us :D

On my desktop ill get vista asap. However so far people who have tested vista retail on my laptop show battery life to be less than half of xp due to not having the power saving crap working completely etc so ill be sticking with xp for a while on the lappy!

I'll probably hold off until at least the first service pack.

Although I might install it on one of bench machines at work to get more familiar with it.

I didn't buy this 8800GTX just to be a DX9 card... :o

I'm waiting a while to see what bugs get squashed etc. I have so few problems with XP there's really no point in spending the cash.

I will move to Vista eventually, I'm not an early adopter of OSs. I moved to XP 2 years after it's release and only because I had to...

I plan on getting it, me and my friend are gonna split it.

I figure, since XP is still ridiculously expensive for a 5 year old program, that Vista will not drop in price much or at all. So, why not buy it when it comes out?

Dual boot sounds good to me too. ;)

I plan to get Vista Ulitmate asap. Student discount is always nice, but I'm also expecting free Vista Ulitmate from my school since Microsoft is just cross the street. Basically I'll have two copies. ;)

I'm already running Vista Ultimate RTM (yes, it's a legal copy), but not on my main machine. When the 880 drivers are released I'll install it on the main system.
