Wow 8600 Ultra and 8600 GT do not have a power connector. That mean both consume less than 75W, it has about 300M transistors on 80nm, it about the same transistors count as G70 on 110nm that require a power connector.

I am very surprise at how cheap 8600 Ultra and GT price are, the Ultra cost $179/£91 and GT cost $149/£76, both will replace current 7600 GS and GT line. I think 8600 Ultra performace will be slight faster than a 7900 GTX and 8600 GT performance will be on par with Geforce 7900 GT.

Great find weeds thanks. Nvidia should hurry up as this is where the real money is made.

my guess the model pictured is GT, not ultra.
core clock 500:350
pipe count 64:48
unlikely they share the same cooling setup and maybe even power/pcb.
edit:
also, with the G8x architechture, 9600 @ 65nm would be a beast @ 800Mhz -ish :) ;)

I think the 8600 ultra will end up being a 249 card. still the target of my next system. it's perfect for a media/gaming pc with silverstone's SG01 microATX case. core 2 duo cpus are falling too. so, I may be able to get it together for less than 1 grand !!!

Honestly, so long as it's faster than my current 7600 GT and a whole lot quieter I'm not that bothered by the specs. I'm hoping that heatsink doesn't have the same whining fan my current one does (OK - admittedly I can only hear it in 3d mode, but by god is it annoying).

nvidia shoulda kept their 7900gtx fan design and use that for the rest of the entire line of future video cards

I agree. Still, I guess we'll wait and see. If it's noisy hopefully some of the IHVs will put nice quiet (maybe even passive?) heatsinks on them.

I hope that 2x 8600's will work on normal SLI motherboards.

Nice find might come in handy for a SFF system if they passive cool it.

Thats strange. Do they think 256bit will offer too much performance or what? 128bit is getting a bit long in the tooth now for upper end midrange cards.

:(
but the article doesn't mention 8600 ultra. so maybe the ultra version will have 256bit memory and it will be launched some time after GT/GS.
I can't imagine nv leaving a big hole in the 8*00 line.

I dont think 256bit offer too much performance, just look at current mainstream card 256bit 7900GS cost between £100 to £150, it replaced 128bit 7600GT last year.
