I have a thermaltake 480W Truepower that I have been using quite fine with my 7800 gt. Now thinking of getting a new 8800 gts, will I need a PSU upgrade also?

You should be fine with a GTS. With a GTX I would recommend a bit more or you'd be pushing it.

I think you would fine, even overclocking.

I run my GTX at 630/2200 (576/1800 stock) and my CPU at 2.8GHz (2.2 stock) with added voltage on CPU/MEM on my Antec 550, and the fan on the PSU does not even spin up faster than its normal silent idle.

Your Antec is of slightly better quality then his Thermaltake though.TT make
great cases, but some of the ps's they sell are just ok.

I am planning on running a gts with a 400 watt power supply. Fingers crossed.

Just for giggles I plugged my GTS with only two sata hard drives + sound card/cpu/ram + 1 120 mm case fan, into a new RMA return of a Antec SP 450 2.0 and it would randomally reset on a 2d desktop with no 3d games at all.

ok the box says recommended is 600W and minimum requirements says 400W and also says 12V with a current rating of 26A

On the thermaltake it says under max load for +12V the current rating is 18A, so does that mean it will not even boot up?

I want to try it out but I wont get home till 9 and by then I wont be able to do a overnite order from newegg or frys.

So what do you guys suggest, just get a new PSU? I would be terribly disappointed if I have to just stare at this baby all thru Xmas!!!

BTW this was an unexpected expense, so I am going a bit cheap on this one. Hows the Raidmax 630W for 50 bucks?

Oh ok, I thought they make a high quality PSU like Antec. I know their case fans suck. lol One of them in my case vibrated so bad fromthe start I couldn't even use it, which has since been replaced with an Antec, and now the other one vibrates too.

Has anyone heard of the Levicom 550W this is what I have.
German company, very stable PSU.
Will it work with a 8800GTS?
