Since 1680x1050 is a odd resolution how is it on games ,will it run lower resolutions and look good ,when you play games will it set to 1680x1050 in all the games or do you have to modify something. What other resolution do you have that it will set at and not have to modify anything ,like 1280x960 and 1600x1024

And can you change the resolution if running it in Analog mode.

I only use digital dvi.

1680x1050 is a 16:10 ratio

so the resolutions you are looking for are 1280x800 and 1024x640. or do a little math and find others (although those are the only other two that easily work for my Gateway LCD)

I just added these custom resolutions through the nvidia drivers.. For my Gateway, since it has really nice scaling hw built in,I tell the drivers to let the display handle the scaling. Else you can get your graphics card to. (don't think there's really a performance hit either way)

Then after that, its up to the game.

If the game is well coded, it should allow you to pick them, and recognize the aspect ratio.

Or, perhaps like Quake4 and Doom 3, you may have to edit some INI files, or some command line parameters, or some hacks. or simply not possible.

There's a forum out there dedicated to widescreen gaming, I forget the name but you can google it.

I personally use 1280x800 on my Gateway widescreen. The scaling is good enough that most of the time for most games, you can't even tell thats its scaled (as in the artifacts from scaling aren't noticeable)
