View Full Version : Corsair Has Great Support

I sent my other set of 2gigs of PC2 6400C4D Dominator for the exchange program ,even tho the PC2 6400C4D with promo IC's worked fine and would overclock to 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15-2T ,I thought for $34.99 extra to get the Micron IC's PC2 8500C5D was worth the efford and besides I can run these at 4-3-3-9-2T at 800mhz at
2.2v and they will run over 1200mhz at 5-5-5-15-2T at 2.2v .I sent them in and they got them on thursday and they shipped them on Friday afternoon ,so I did'nt even look for them until Tuesday of next week after the holiday and to my surprise I had the UPS driver calling me Saturday around 12 noon hunting my address ,and I got them in less then 24 hours on a Saturday,I did'nt even think UPS delivered on Saturday. So IMO Corsair has great support and great ram.

wow nice! No wonder people love Corsair..

So with that RAM you running at 1200 MHz? What are your current settings right now?

Right now I keep it at a 1:1 ratio so I am running at 1600 and my memory is at 800 at 4-3-3-9-2T at 2.2v which is 3.6gigs,I have tried it both ways and when running my ran at 1200 5-5-5-15-2T at 2.3v I have the dominator fan to help cool them .and running my CPU at 1600 which is 3.6gigs with a 5:4 divider I think ,I have no gains in any of my games and in benchmarks I get 50 more points in 3Do6 and about a 100points extra in 3D05and in Fear I see no difference ,I mean if I run a memory benchmark yes I have more bandwidth running at 1200 but in games I find it best to run a 1:1 ratio and until they can make a board that will run 2100 so that I can run a 525 buss and a multipler of 7 to get 3675g so it will be a 1:1 ratio with memory running at 1050,I really see no since in spending the high bucks on super fast ram when you get the same performance running a cheaper ram with lower timeing,The PC2 6400C4D is plenty fast enough for this board IMO.

That was when I was just running one pair of PC2 8500C5D ,i could hit 1200 but with running two pair of PC28500C5D I was haveing trouble hitting 1100,so my secound set is'nt as good or when running four sticks of memory it just want overclock that high,I compared running at 3.7gig with a 1066mhz memory running at 7:9 ratio to running 3.7gig with 825mhz running at 1:1 ratio
3DMark 06-------3.7g-1066 (7:9ratio) ------3.7g-825 (1:1 ratio)
------------------14,230--------------------- 14,205
S.M.2.0 ---------- 6616 ---------------------- 6613
GT 1------------- 55.321-------------------- 55.101
GT 2 ------------ 54.945 ------------------- 55.112
HDR/S.M3.0 ------ 6674 --------------------- 6658
HDR 1----------- 60.894-------------------- 60.765
HDR 2---------- 72.592-------------------- 72.393
CPU------------ 3140 --------------------- 3132
CPU 1---------- 1.018--------------------- 1.014
CPU 2---------- 1.549-------------------- 1.548

So as you can see there is not much difference in running at 1066 AT 5-5-5-15-2t with a 7:9 ratio to running at 825 4-4-4-12-2T with a 1:1 ratio
,I guess you could call the 1066 the winner but by a whole 25 points, and the rest of the benchmarks come out with about the same difference,The 1066 winning by a few points ,so IMO you are better off saveing your money and buying some good PC2 6400C4 because IMO you really gain very little by buying the high Dollar ram.

Yeah there barely any difference, yes I was thinking of getting some RAM with timing maybe PC2 6400C4, Thanks for the heads up.

I was going to go this route but it stinx of bait and switch to me. How did you come out ahead??? Thier first item wasn't what it should have been so they charge you extra money to get the next part up. Did you get to keep the original part??? I really thought this whole deal was a scam....(cheers)

Yeah, UPS delivers on Saturdays, and it's not cheap. ;) Corsair really does a great job of taking care of their customers. I haven't had them in about a year now, but I had a number of problems with my DDR400 TwinX 2GB kit (as well as the ValueRAM I had before that) and they were lightening fast about cross-shipping replacements.

Other companies should try to model themselves after Corsair. That's for sure.

Corsair cross shipped for me and they did not charge me a penny for the memory swap. Outstanding.

Are these guys on vacation this week?

I show my memory as recieved via FedEx on Friday 12/22/06 but have not heard anything from them reguarding even recieving it let alone when my replacement is coming. I realize its the holidays, so that is why I am asking. I kicked off an email last night and haven't heard anything.

Yes,but you'll get taken care of when they get back.Every time I have dealt with them, the service I got was outstanding to say the least.I will always support Corsair,as long as the service remains the same.
