I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the absolute fastest cpu my motherboard will take? I have an eVGA NForce4 SLI Edition (NF41) which is socket 939. Thanks.

it would be most likely the AMD FX-60, could be wrong though

i beleive there is the fx-62 if im thinking correctly, isnt that out yet? if not that, then yes, the fx-60. and u can get a good fan and overclock it nicely with a good pair of ram to last u at least another year or more

Look on page 6 of the manual...

http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/manual-rev.pdf

It says 4000+ but maybe this is old... even though it does say future support for other 939's...Slippe, I would phone their support line just to make sure you have the latest info...

The FX-60 or the Opteron 185 is the fastest that will go will you motherboard, but since they are close to the same price the FX-60 would be the best since it has a unlocked mutipler. They are both around $430 ,But if it was me I would just save the money and get a Core2 Duo,since you are already running at 2.7 ,you more then likely want see that big of a increase in games unless they support dual cores. And even with a FX-60 it will just be the luck of the draw if it will even overclock to 3gigs.

I dont Know if they still have them but newegg had 4000+ for something like $79 and fx-55 for somewhere around $140. If you're not going to go C2D and you're dead set on getting a new processor I would go with one of those, I wouldn't even bother with a FX-60, when side by side my old set up with 2x 7800GT and OC'd 3700+ showed no difference in real time gaming compared to my buddies FX-60 and the same 2 cards.
