Wow. If the R600XTX is a foot long, I definitely wont be getting it as none of the cases I have could fit it. :p

That is a crazy huge card. Wonder what the 9" version will look like. :D

I am getting 5800 Ultra flashbacks with that thing :)

With the power required, size of the PCB, and heat the thing must put out, it is probably loud.

It means the 1950XTX will be quiet then right. :p

Oh man can't wait till R600 comes out and blows. It will be like a stab in the back for the red team waiting nearly 5 months for a card that performans slower and sucks more heat then the 8800. I bet the 8800gts will zoom by the best of R600.

I dont,I think the R600 will be slightly faster on canned benchmarks, and 5 to maybe 15% faster in real games. But the NV refresh will arrive weeks after ATI's paper launch, and crush ATI under the boot that is NVidia yet again. :D

I have a feeling that is what is going to happen as well. It wouldn't suprise me if ATI already has the next series running full tilt, and will be beat G90 to market.

I doubt that a G80 refresh will give you more than 10-15% boost over current models. If that is the case, "crush" would not be the best description. Just remember that as long as we have a 10-25% margin when comparing two high end cards we have competition. This is what consumers want to see.

The problems arise when one company releases a new generation card with no quick reply from the competition. The R600 delays combined with what is arguably a "quick" 8800 release are actually costing 8800GTX owners extra money and have probably lined Jen Hsun and his crew's pockets with year-end bonuses. Hell yea.

Who want's to make bets that G80 ass rapes R600? ATI got cought off guard this gen hence their 6 month delay.

Quad Crossfire has been in the works for awhile now, hasn't it? So it looks like the R600 might have 512MB of ram.

if that was the case, we would have heard of a tape out by now and board makers would be preping for production. i think we are at least three months away from a release of something on the high end.

if i remember correctly, tape out takes 100 days until full production.

Well if the paper launch is at Cebit, does that mean before April? My step up runs out April 3rd :(

ATI cant ever be able to do tape out less than 100 days until full production, Nvidia beaten ATI for every tape outs since NV25 which took 90 days from tape out to full production. ATI are absolutely terrible at timing on designs to tape outs to full productions.

The high end G80 first taped out in August 2006, it took Nvidia an incredible 60 days from tape out to full production in early October 2006 and it took a month for card manufacturers to tested G80 cards, packaged with bundles, cables etc and shipped it to retailers before full hard launch in November 2006. ATI R600 was first taped out in November 2006, it will take about 120 days from tape out to full production scheduled on 28 February 2007 but here will be no hard launch, it will be yet another paper launch on around 13 March at CeBit and R600 cards will shipping to retailers in early April 2007.

For Nvdia's 65nm products, this time you wont see it from tape out to production in 60 days. Nvidia will have bigger advantage with 65nm designs, they adopts Magma’s Physical Verification Products (http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37968) with Quartz DRC, Quartz LVS and Quartz DRC Litho to improve manufacturability and time to market for 65nm designs. Nvidia use this technology will mean high end products like G81 or G90 tape out to production in as little as 30 days or 60 days if they want to spend extra month time tweaking to increase higher clock speed. It look like G90 will be 8 to 10 months or maybe 1 year ahead of R700 if ATI are still very slow on designs time to market products.

I think ATI's longest tape out to production was R520 refresh R580 which first taped out in August 2005 and it took them 6 months or 180 days to production in January 2006.
