why XP pro for games?

Well, I wouldn't say that one version of XP is better than the other for gaming. It is just most enthusiast have their rig on some sort of network or are connected to a high speed internet connection. As such, they prefer to use XP Pro due to its more robust security and networking features.

XP Pro is much more tweakable.

That being said, I still don't think there will be much difference in gaming performance, if any.

Think its due to the CPU and RAM Limitations that WinXP Home has.

For gaming, not sure, but I do use some advanced features like domains and advanced file sharing.

Hmmm ok,well i alos have a copy of xp pro given to me,when i install my new Sata HD,ill put pro on there and see if it makes any difference at all

IMO it's because XP PRO Corp was pirated, and thrown all over the internet. It seems to me that alot of hardcore gamers are some times pirates as well...heh...Anyway, I think once the gaming community chose XP Pro as "THE GAMING PLATFORM", the rest of the gaming world just followed suit...Or at least that's my conspiracy theory, wich could be totally wrong...ROFL

For gaming, absolutely not. I've had both, tried both, not a frame of difference. I also ran across a rumor that server 2003 was better for gaming due to being less bloated, again, untrue. I did get maybe one or two frames more, but as a whole, not worth it. Server is for servers, naturally. And quite annoying when trying to be used for gaming. :thumbdwn:

Vista claims to have big gains, we'll see if those hold up.

Best you can do is tweak, tweak, tweak. And even then, dont expect a miracle.
