I was just reading that if you have a SATA DVD burner you don't get that short system freeze when you put in a disk (IDE/PATA).

Anyone try this out? I'm thinking about ordering the LITE-ON SATA burner... it's only like $36 at newegg.

That system freeze thing on disc insert ticks me off. :)

Samsung 18x (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151141)

It just came out and already sold out.

I don't know if you are referring to the Lite-On or the Samsung, but it now shows the Lite-On Sold Out and the Samsung In Stock. LOL

I've never really thought about these before, but I do have 2 open SATA2 slots open on my mobo. Hmmmm.... Tax time, maybe.

LOL! Well then the Samsung must have sold out again because it's still showing auto-notify for me. I have this drive for IDE and love it.

Make sure your motherboards support SATA optical drives before you get one.
