I installed forcware 97.92, and ntune 5.05, and it reports my idle temp at 59*C. This seemed a bit hot to me,whats it supposed to be?

seems within normal range to me, 8800's are hotter than previous gen cards.

Oh ok, I just remembered reading something about them running cooler then the X1900s, which is what I upgraded from.

Interestingly enough the x1900xtx uses more power at load than the 8800gtx (although the GTX pulls more when idle):

Usually power draw is directly correlated with heat output.

Seems perfectly normal.

Adding a PCI slot exhaust fan directly below it can really help, it got mine down to 47 C idle. (Was at around 65 C previously) It seems the slots at the top of the cooler near the rear of the case have a tendency to leak air out into the case instead of letting it blow out the back.

good to hear :) I just ran '06 for the first time, got 9805 w/ my opteron at 2.8GHz, about what I was expecting. Unfortunately, I had to reinstall windows, as 97.92 and ntune were giving me BSoDs, which are now fixed. I just have to install all my games again before I can really let this beast loose :D

Mines 57C idle and 67C underload @ 50% fan speed. Increasing fan speed to 100% reduce idle temps 2C which an't much for the extra noise.

Exactly the same as mine when the front door to my P180 is shut. I can cool it down a couple of degrees by opening the door. I have the filters removed, btw, to get some air moving through the front of the case.

I guess my load temps are pretty hot, 78*C was the highest it got after '06 @ 612/1944

Also, my '06 scores have gotten worse. Today @ stock I got 9637, and I get 9820 oc'ed. I thought it might have been some background tasks, or something in the control panel, but everything looks normal...

Raising my fan speed to 100% dropped mine over 10C+ at idle and 10C+ at full load.
