Speaking to fellow american citizens,
Please support our servicemen, Even if you dont support current polotics.
If you see any of them during your busy day, give them a quick salute, maybe buy their lunch.
Dont approach them with political values, please engage in such dialog only if they initiate it. Let them know you appreciate the freedoms they protect and value their contribution in particular. It might not mean much to you, but I guarantee it will to them.
If you know of a co-worker or neighbor who is away serving our country maybe you could drop some gift certificates in their mail box. having to deal with the financial effect of being away from your family is an enourmous stress. it might cost you $10.00~ to buy some Bob Evans gift certificates, but the uplifting effect a show of support can bring is worth much more.
Many are mothers and fathers who have children back at home. think of them when you tuck your kids in at night.
I want to thank them all.
please, please, please DO NOT turn this into a political thread, its about the people in uniforms, not political doctrine.
If you have nothing positive to say, I respectfully request you not post anything in order to stay true to the intent of this thread and I thank you in advance.
God Bless our troops and their families.

I think it should go without saying, but I'll add my heartfelt agreement to it anyways.
These men and women are going in harms way for our country whether you agree with the politics behind their actions or not, and I don't doubt for a second that each of them truly feels they are helping to protect our home and our freedom by putting their lives on the line for us.
ALWAYS respect the men and women in the armed forces, and that goes double for veterans. Those people have given more of themselves for this country than most of us ever will. :)
My thanks, props, respects, and big-ups to all our service people...and my prayers and best wishes for your safety and success.

Been a troop, got treated like ****. See no reason to treat them any different than anyone else.

Atrophy is the death of the soul. :(

I completely support our troops and if you are anti-war and war is going to happen then you should support our troops. This is the best way to have a speedy war that ends as soon as possible. So our boys can come home.
If you still are anti-war then your true feelings will be revealed as I have always believed, as anti-american.

Having been a troop I think one of the most valuable gifts I ever recieved was a,
"Thank you", from a woman in the mall.
That meant a lot to me.
Sorry to hear your experience ASCI was so bad, mine was actually pretty good.

yeah, become the people that treated you like ****. Real smart:rolleyes:
If you don't agree with current politics, why don't you change it? I thought it's a democratic country. You see all those protests around the country AND around the whole world, but people just nod their heads. Very sad.
Sure I feel bad for the troops. It will be a stupid war, just like in Korea. God Bless them.

What was your MOS 1stFlight? I'm going to take a wild guess and say something AF related? I was in the infantry and jumped out of planes. Guess people don't like people who actually work for a living.
The best thing that happened to me during my stay aside learning how to maim and kill was getting whistled at one day when I was in class A's. Too bad I had a gf and she was a bit on the old side. :D
Hey bu, I still don't see you enlisted to fight for your country.

Get off your high horse! You don't know anything about our lives. You served and thanks for that but now you turn your back on your country and throw it in our faces? I don't care if you were shot in combat it does not give you any right to throw it in anyones face. In fact it only marginalizes your position.
There are many ways to serve that don't include serving in the military.

ASCI, I'm thinking you're just a might bit bitter. And the AF doesn't have MOS's we have AFSC's same thing but well ,with an AF spin, in that I was an Electronic Switching Systems tech, "general" being all encompassing.
Hey if you joined the infantry, you joined it of your own free will, it's not like you were drafted. Don't fault me because I joined the service that gives a rat's a$$ about it's people.
As for enlisting to serve my country, by definition, that's what you're doing by joining the military. Any branch, including the Coast Guard. Care to dispute that?
Did I have a support role? Yes, and damned proud of it. The work I did helped insure that our pilots got the information they need to keep the skies clear of enemy forces. Nice feeling to look up and know those are American planes overhead and not enemy ones, isn't it.

Because they don't have a choice. They follow orders, failure to do so is a criminal offense.
If you're looking to place blame, blame Bush, most of America and the rest of the world already does.

ASCI is just mad because he lives in the Peoples Republic of Oregon.
Even though we differ on politics I completely respect you for your service. Kudos bro! You also have every right to be proud as I am of you.:p

*tries in vain to stop laughing*
Because when you enlist you commit to a certain amount of time. In the least it's 4 years, and can be as many as 6.
Only Officers can resign when they feel the need too.
Make matters worse in case of war, you can be told that you can't get out! You're a captive audience now buddy!!
Yeah, joining is easy, getting out is at the governments will.

That is the most unamerican thing I have heard lately. If you are a US citizen then I invite you to leave.

Not so much "unAmerican" as it is "uneducated".

So? People are entitled to their own opinions. Deal with it :)
You would be surprised how many US citizens are "unamerican".

This unamerican thing bugs the hell out of me, its pretty much a simple way of dismissing someone elses opinion without having to read it. Not forgetting we are also dirty communists;) :D

I did just deal with it. I spoke out against this type of attitude. It does nothing abut bring our country down. Not all opinions are equal and valid.
I still stand by what I said.

In the land where freedom of speech is so highly valued it seems to have some restrictions to suit what people want to hear;)

Vamp, you are totally correct.
I resent this whole "unamerican" business as a means of debating people. I am one of the most unamerican people I know, but damnit I still support our troops.

I did say if you do support our troops and didn't carry a anti american sign like most those protestors did then my comment wasn't aimed towards you. But Lame Duck did say he did not support our troops. That is unamerican, that is assuming he is unamerican. If he isn't American then it doesn't apply to him, simple as that.
I do believe you can be patriot and still not support our presidents positions. Your disagreement is fine just as long as you don't make comments such as not supporting our troops.

I knew you weren't referring to me, I just meant I hate those buzzwords.
Too often they're used to attempt to categorize people as being inferior, which doesn't lead to a very productive debate. But I don't think you used them in that manner so it's all good.
