HELP WITH PS3 with monitor

Hi,

I have a benq monitor (item FP202W) that i bought from new egg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014105

I bought this because i thought it would work with my ps3. However I have tried two hdmi to dvi cables and gone through the settings in the ps3 and when i have it hooked up with the AV cables first and select HDMI it goes black and then when I try to plug in the HDMI it just stays black and goes back to the menu on the tv using the AV's. It does not reconize the moniter. Can some one please tell me if I am doing something wrong or if this monitor just wont work with my ps3.

Thanks for the help. Hopefully I wont have to get rid of my moniter because its new and all.

Most likely it's because that monitor doesn't have HDCP and so will not work with the PS3.

It could be other reasons too, though. There are a ton of complaints about the PS3 not properly synching to monitors and TVs.
