Look at the brightside, it'll give everyone out at their local pubs something to watch on the telley while celebrating St. Pattie's day.

What's going to be interesting is that when the we go to war, if we go without a U.N. mandate OUR leaders could be charged for war crimes. Yup, that's right us.
In the good news, the courts are unlikely to get a military force together and round up the charged, but if they ever leave the country, it could get ugly, or funny depending on your point of view.

I highly doubt it would come to that..This war should last 2 months like the last one..I wish it would just be over with..

If the UN even attempts anything close to war crimes trials for our leaders they better find themselves a new country to have their stupid headquarters in. There will be reprisals. I think the UN is stupid, but I don't think they are so stupid to attempt anything like this. NATO anyone?

The U.N.'s job is to keep the peace, not start wars. Hence why it doesn't have an army. Often keeping the peace is more difficult that starting a war in the name of peace. Jesus, never heard a sillier arguemnt in my life.
In the words of Senator Daschle
‘INEPT AND BUNGLED’
Daschle’s comments echoed what had been said 24 hours earlier by Rep. Joseph Hoeffel, D-Pa., a Democrat who also voted for the use-of-force resolution last October.
“We are dealing with an isolated country with a fourth-rate military power, led by a murderous tyrant that nobody likes,” he said. “And yet the (U.N.) Security Council is split. Why? It is because of the inept and bungled and cowboy diplomacy of President Bush and his senior advisers. He has spent a great deal of time in insulting our allies, in denigrating the United Nations
As for the 2 months thing, hopefully it will be short, but that's only the initial hostilities. Once we turn into an occupying force, things could get ugly. Urban combat sucks, in fact that's why we don't do it.

March 17th is the date I read on MSN this morning. Damn damn damn. I just hope they are right about the world being a safer place.

March 17th is the deadline the UK and US have proposed for Iraq to disarm. Doesn't gaurantee immediate military action yet but anything is possible. Hasn't passed yet tho;)

Ah, leave it to the journalists to make it sound like the end of the world was guaranteed on that day. The headline on MSN made it sound like it had already passed.

Not likely, starting a war this way, makes a Bush poster a recruitment tool for bin Laden.

That's what I'm afraid of too. If I am more endangered directly by the actions of my president, then according to John Locke it's my duty (and anyone else who is endangered) to rebel and remove the current government.
But maybe we'll get lucky, I can only hope for the best.

But you forget we just recently snubbed the UN Human Rights court by saying it has no jurisdiction over our own people. Ironic that the court we have so trumpeted can't apply the same to us. Leave it to the US to create a double-standard though.

Leave it to the UN to rotate Lybia to chair human rights comission;)
