Hey all,
when i use windows media player to watch dvds i get the Nvidia Decoders icon in the taskbar.
but when i download and try out various other purevideo approved dvd players (intervideo, cyberlink, nero) the nvidia decoders icon does not appear in the taskbar. also the picture is of much less quality than windows media player.

is this because windows media player is just that good? :o
realy curious if im doing something wrong here.
i have the lates 8800gtx drivers, and hardware acceleration is enabled in all players.

any knowledge or advice is appreciated.

No, you're getting PureVideo DECODER confused with PureVideo TECHNOLOGY. The decoder enables any DirectShow player to decoder MPEG-2; with PowerDVD and WinDVD they already have their own decoders, so they're using them. However, they do use hardware acceleration (which is PureVideo Technology). It's a stupid marketing thing by nVidia and confuses a HELL of a lot of people. You will only see the PureVideo decoder icon when viewing from WMP, MPC, Zoom Player, etc...PowerDVD and WinDVD use their own decoders so you wont see that icon. Hope that helps :)
