I've had the Sony HT-DDW670 for the last 2.5 years and it's been pretty amazing. It's got killer bass and gets LOUD.

It was $200 and I think it was money well spent. Once I get out of my current place, I'm going to look into getting perhaps an Onkyo or Denon receiver and some really nice speakers to complement my HD-A2 and the HDTV I'm going to buy. :D

Well, being that I got that new camera for Christmas, I guess I'll have to take some pics to show off my setup. Guess I could do that now... :)

Okay, I have two of these running as my front speakers:

This is my center speaker:

I have two of these running as my rear speakers:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/Sir_Farts_A_Lot/Audio%20Related/AudioSetup003.jpg

And here is the reciever powering all five of those speakers:

And no, I normally don't have all that stuff ontop of the equilizer. I just set it there so it wasn't in the way of the pic. :p My desk is usually quite messy. :o

I have two of these running as my subs (15") :

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/Sir_Farts_A_Lot/Audio%20Related/AudioSetup004.jpg

And here is the amp powering both of those subs:

That's been a good amp. Unfortunately I fear she is on her way out. :( My dad knows a guy that repairs audio equipment for a living, so I'm gonna' have him take a look at it. If she's fixable, I'm keeping her. :D If not, time to get a new one. :(

Over all, I must say this setup rocks. Movies sound almost identical to the theater- just not as loud. :( So, as you can imagine, games are beyond awesome on this setup. :D

No pictures yet but I just recently got some Boston Acoustics, CR67's for my mains, a CRC7 for the center and CR57's for the rears. Added a Velodyne VRP1000 sub and all hooked to a Pioneer VSX-D811S, sounds great for the price I paid for it all, roughly $350 for the speakers and the sub, and much better than the previous sony setup I had.

At the heart of my audio system I have the Pioneer VSX-D509S.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/vgn/images/portal/cit_3442/33557VSX-D509_big.jpg

For speakers I have 2 medium sized Sony front speakers and a medium sized center channel. For the 2 rears I have some Sony small speakers. Sub is a 8 inch 75 watt KLM.

I have had this setup since 2000 I believe. It's not the greatest by any means but still sounds pretty decent. Maybe I can update it soon we shall see.

By the way, do those clothes on the speakers help the sound Redeemed? :p

I was wondering when somebody would ask such a question. :o

Nice reciever you got. Me, I'm hoping to get a new one someday. For now, this works well enough. As you can imagine the sound is just monstrous. :firedevil

Unfortunately I haven't been able to do many late-night game sessions with it blaring. Normally everybody is asleep, so I have to use my headphones. :(

Ok I got some pics of my front speakers, center channel and my rear surrounds.

First the fronts and center. The center channel is on the tv stand to the right of the XBOX 360.

And here is 1 of the rear surrounds. Yea the other one is just like it. ;)

I just use my old Logitech Z-680's for everything. I've always been happy with the sound out of those. Dirt cheap too.

Z-5500's FTW Here. I have them mounted to the ceiling, the only thing was I had to take them apart and file away the stupid stop block on 2 of them so they could all point toward center.

@ Redeemed: That's a lot of Watts, how big is the room it's in?

@betterdan: Have enough movies. :)

Yea we have way more than enough actually. We have over 1000 and I had to buy 3 binders that hold 270 discs each to store some in. That picture is showing most of the dvds. There are 2 of those binders with 270 dvds in them not shown and then there are some box sets that aren't shown in that picture either. There are some dvds I haven't even watched yet. I really need to get rid of some of them.

:afraid:

lol dude! when will you ever watch all those?

I rent all my movies from Hollywood Video. Sometimes Blockbuster online, whichever is cheaper.

Anyway... Im on the market for some new speakers. Mine are the little Sonys in the first post in this thread... I at least want two powerful BACK speakers, I was thinking of getting these NHT ST-4's

Ill be taking a trip down to Circuit City or Tweeter soon to check em out. ;)

@ Redeemed: That's a lot of Watts, how big is the room it's in?

Not very big. :o And actually, the A/V Reciever is only 500 watts (100 watts x 5), and the stereo amp for the subs is only 260 watts (130 x 2). And I'm underpowering all my speakers (except for the fronts and the center)- not by much though. :p I'm aiming an upgrade in a couple years- I'm looking for a high quality A/V 7.1 Channel reciever that'll do atleast 140 x 7. I believe Onkyo has one now that'll do 170 x 7 (at 8 Ohms). But it costs near $4k. :( So it'll be a while till I upgrade this setup.

And all the speakers (save for the center and subs) are old. The two rear towers are Curtis Mathes- whom no longer makes audio equipement any more. :( I replaced the subs (12") and mid ranges (5 1/4" ) on those two. The sound improved drastically. :D As for the fronts, those are stock as you can tell from the pictures- their from an old Sears LXI series stereo of mine. My sister is using the stereo, but I kept the speakers. :firedevil The subs are in new actually. I found some old 3-way floor standing Fisher boxes, gutted of thier original speakers, at a local thrift shop for $20. I bought 'em, and picked up some 15" subs. I lined the inside with foam completely, made a custom crossover, and called it good. For those of you who might think the subs are beating themselves to death from all that bass vibrating off the foam- the boxes have a bass port, plus the two hole for the other two speakers I have open to allow for more bass to escape. So no, the subs aren't pounding themselves to death. :p And when I say the quality is on par with what you hear at a Theater- I'm not being sarcastic. It is that great, just not nearly as loud. :(

Believe it or not I'm still not done customizing this setup. I still want to modify the Fisher boxes my subs are in. I want to add a 10" down-firing sub to each of them. But that will be quite a bit later as I'll need a far more powerful amp for that. Yes, I'm obsessed with good, clean bass. :D :p

I'm using Z-5500s too. Cheap, decent sound and small. Everything I need in my place.

Yeah, and why is your underwear drawer labelled 'underwear'? :D

And I was waiting for that to come up as well. :p

That dresser used to belong to my little sister. When she was younger, that is how my mom tought her organization. Her dresser happened to be larger than mine. So, being that I'm quite a bit larger than my sister, I out-grew the dresser I was using. As such, her and I swapped dressers. I tried to remove those labels- but they're aren't comming off easily. And I'm too lazy to get some towels and some adhesive remover to scrub 'em off.

There, now ya'll know. ;)
