I currently have a PNY TI4400.. Its frying out with artifacts and will not boot into 16 bit color for WinXP. The place I purchased this has offered to let me trade out with an equivalent card which to them is the ATI9700 Pro. I have heard that the ATI has issues with the Nforce2 boards. I just put my new box together last night and am concerned that I might be getting myself into a bind in regards to this ATI card on this board. My specs are:
ABIT NF7-S 1.2
XP2700 333MHz
1Gig GeIL PC3200
WINXP
Will this be an issue or am I concerned without merrit? Please comment. My thought were that I am have a 100% new box and fixing to have one of the top video cards and life couldnt be better (but concerned about issues with the Radeon card)
Since Im going to be getting the radeon card most likely what drivers are best and where might I get them. I have been an NVidia buff up till now.
Please comment,
Thanks,

Uhh... no issues with nForce 2 boards as far as I've heard. Exactly the opposite, really... apparently the two work very nicely together.

Yeah, the 9700 should work fine with your NForce2.
The best drivers to use are the latest, the Catalyst 3.1s. You can grab them off the ATi web site.
If you want more opinions on any possible incompatibilites etc, now would be a good time to familiarise yourself with the forum over at Rage3D. Don't worry, we don't bite... :)

it works fine...you can see my specs in the sig
I dont know who thinks the 4400 is the equal to the 9700pro, but thats good for you ( now folks lets not turn that comment into a flame of the 4400, it is not. but it is NOT the equal to the 9700pro)..
I have used the 8500 and a 9700pro in my 8RDA+ boards without ANY problems.... they work great together( unless something is either misconfigured or damaged)........ take a look at the Orb, most ( if not ALL- I haven't looked in awhile) of the highest scores on the AMD platform are 9700p and nforce2 boards.
Good Luck

Yeah, good for me... Im drueling about it. Im glad you guys put that issue to rest. I have read many reviews and seen that the Nforce2 boards rock with the 9700 pro however I have seen a few OH NO posts on the forums in regards to radeons.. I have had the Ti4400 for a while and was pretty much sold on them as a mid range performance/price value. However in my research on this new Nforce2 board I would like to have the most bang for my buck. I think the ATI card would be that according to reviews.
Once question. I have heard that the ATI has some issues with the GL engine that the Tribes2 game uses. This is the game I play predominantly. Have any of you heard this?
Thanks Again Guys!

don't let this scare you too much as i had a different board, but i know some abit boards have issues booting with the 9700. my kr7a-raid board would never cold boot, i always had to hit the reset button to make it work. i got a new board last month but last i check abit still has not fixed the issue with a bios. some asus boards had the same issue, but asus was cool enough to fix it with a new bios i like about a week. anyway, again not to scare you just to warn you incase it is an issue; you might search the rage3d forums for your motherboard to see what you find. if it is an issue, screw abit and ditch the motherboard, that is what i did.

I had a 9700 Pro briefly, but I never experienced the so-called "cold boot" issue with it on my KR7A-RAID. That card didn't suffer from it and neither does my modded 9500.
I don't think you'll have a problem with your nForce2 and the 9700. As a matter of fact, I was tempted today to pick up an NF7-S at my local store, but decided against it for the time being. :)

If you do pick one up get the rev 1.2 or dont get one at all. It was kind of a pain to set up but once I got it all installed it works flawlessly. I was cruising along with 230 fps in Tribes2 with an empty server and averaging 100 to 140 with lots of people around and it was totally smooth, no jerks, no freezes, just smooth....
I played a little raven shield tonight and the ATI DOES NOT like the game. I get from 17 to 56 fps and its sporadic. It will play for about 2 hours then I need to shut the game down and restart it. Anyone heard of this?
Thanks Again,
