I have a Toshiba Satellite 2415-S205. It has tthe NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics card. I run NVchooser, buut it says to get a i386 version of suse 8.1, none exists on the site.

I am new to Linux, and desperately trying not to be so Windows dependant. Aany help in the department would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks to all... And good day to everybody..

Get the *.i586 drivers; they should work properly :)

Before you install the drivers, have a look into the HowTo file in order to see what's it all about.

cheers, bodo

look here, i got it to work:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8409

But before you do this, you have to download these files:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/1.0-4191/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.suse81.i586.rpm
and
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/1.0-4191/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.suse81.i586.rpm

I did as suggeseted, and the problem still exists. I still haave a margin of black on the right hand side of my laptop. I believe I am having a difficult time configuring sax2. I hhaave the horitzontal and vertical refresh rates, but appearanly I am not telling the computer what it needs...

800 x 600 60/75 85/100
1024 x 768 60/75 85/100
1280 x 1024 60/75 85/100
1400 x 1050 60/75 85/100

all non-interlaced and at 16 M color.

So what next?

I think i know what your problem is. When you look at the windows nvidia driver, then it says: "Geforce Go Products not supported in the package". So, perhaps in the linux driver is also not working with go cards.
