Right mouse button:

MIDDLE FINGER OR RING FINGER!?

Everybody I've talked to has said middle. I used middle, and out of curiousity, I tried ring. It feels "right." I dunno. More control, I guess. Using MX700... wow. It feels gooooood.

So anyway, which do you prefer and why?

Middle, no main reason why, Ive never thought aboout it :p but looking at the way my hand is to use my ring fingure I would have to change the postition of my hand, and that does not feel right.

I use the middle, I just tried the ring finger and it feels wrong and nasty:D

For 2-button + scrool wheel mice you have to use your middle finger.

For 3 *full* button mice you have to use your ring finger.

When i got my Logitech Wingman gameing mouse (best mouse ever BTW) i had to adjust to useing my ring finger, but the advantes to havieng a thrid button are sooo good!

Middle. I think it's because we can control it better than the ring one.
Benchmark :corky: your fingers :D, click as fast as you can with each finger for 10 seconds. How many clicks do you achieve with the middle and how many with the ring one? Also, how confortable do you feel with each one?

I've used 3 button mice and 2 button, and it's the same. For medium clicks, I'm not sure, but I think I use the forefinger.
Now I have a 3 button mouse, but the middle is a clickcable wheel. I use the wheel and click it with my forefinger. The middle finger has to do a longer trip to reach that wheel. :p

OK, maybe it's from me playing piano for a decade... but my ring and middle are equal. Both are really damn fast ;)

Well after seeing some of your replies, I will add to my reply by saying that in every game, my right mouse button is use for moving forward, so it doesnt mmatter how fast I click ;) Its handy having a five button mouse

Yes on 2 button mice right is forward left is shoot (of course)

On my 3 Button Logitech Wingman Gameing Mouse

Right - Forward
Middle - (truthfully i forget, but the thrid button is important because you can only push so many keys at a time)
Left - Fire

Hey! I play piano and organ too, but I still prefer the middle finger. :p

I used to use the right button to move forward, and the middle to go backwards. You could play with just one hand at least temporaly (if you have to scratch something, for example :D ). But I didn't like hurting the mouse all the time.... when you want to run faster, you press the button harder.... and Genius screams because of the pain!

heh nvr really stopped to think about it but I use my middle finger and sometimes I get more accurate and consistent shots using it for primary fire as well.

i use my thumb and ring finger on each side of the mouse for good control while fraggin, cant imagine leaving that responsibility up to my pinky :p

My hands are rarely off my organ. :)

And I can use either my third or fourth finger for the right mouse button, depends on how much I'm using the wheel.

Hmmm...I played cello and it just seems to fit the shape of the bowing position.

That and I use me ring finger for my pinky button and just use me pinky as a stabilizer. (I got a spastic pulsy pinky on me right hand and a bit of a mangled one on me left. The one on me left still works well for fingering at least...on my cello, you sickies! )

I'm just too hooked on the Intellimouse optical with the extry side buttons....I can't deal without a 5-button mouse anymore. :)

LOL... that last option... lets just say that there were certain times in the past when I would "forget" that my hands were in my lap and spend twenty minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't get the mouse to move.......

middle finger here.

I have the 3.0 Explorer revision, so my 2 extra buttons are by my thumb, don't use the 4th & 5th buttons much, but they do help.

Heh. That's why I usually don't use the 4th & 5th buttons. I end up cursing more than I do playing, lol

Yeah. You try to lift the mouse and end making 15 weird clicks... :D
