View Full Version : Good place to buy cables and connectors?

I've tried a few places but I'd like a solid, reliable source of small components like cables, connectors and adapters without getting ripped off.

Its kind of ridiculous how much you have to spend at most places just to get a tiny cable. I keep needing little things and its adding up... $5 (+tax) for a stupid adapter at radio shack or a single cable from newegg for $3 + $6 shipping...

Are there any stores that have extremely good prices on cables... preferebly with free or cheap shipping?

EDIT: I remember this store being pretty decent but their shipping prices are OUTRAGEOUS.

If I want *1* 6 foot USB extension cable it only costs $1.60 but the cheapest shipping is almost $8 for commercial and over $10 for residential. :wtf:

They could stick the damn thing in a padded envelope and ship it USPS for like a dollar... UPS isnt necessary.

Shipping from SVC is too high for one small item like an IDE cable, however, you can buy six with about the same amount for shipping.

Sidewinders charges $4.95 per pound USPS. Some of their stuff is a little higher but I have always received good quality and prompt shipping.

I know exactly what you mean. I had the same problem with cables.... most online stores have cheap cables but shipping can sometimes cost the same if not more than the actual cable. I found the best place to get cheap cables with free shipping is eBay. I got a number of cables off of ebay because there are usually a number of auctions that have free shipping.... it really depends.

Hmm... thats a good idea.

With PayPal ebay is getting pretty quick and easy if the seller has a decent rating. I bought a USB trackball mouse (a tiny handheld thing) on ebay a couple weeks ago and it arrived in 3 days. On top of that you can't buy them at any stores anymore so it was a pretty rare item.

Its experiences like those that make up for some of the stupid "$80 shipping" auctions that are such a problem these days.

Hey, there we go. Thats not too bad.

2 cables for $1.50 each + $2.71 shipping = $5.71

Better than $12 for 1.

Thanks

EDIT: Great ratings too:

I just get my cables from newegg. The shipping really isn't that bad if you're ordering more than one or two. I bought 3 HDMI cables a few weeks ago @ $10/cable.. $5 shipping. But since they all came in the same box, I was only charged a dollar shipping for two of them. $30+$6 shipping for 3 HDMI cables. :) I'll pay an extra ~$6 over eBay. At least I know I'll actually be getting them.

newegg and amazon.. amazon also gives you the choice of buying from another place but still going through them..

I think I ordered a few from cablestogo.. or i ordered their cables through amazon.

There was this one place where I wish I can remember, but I bought long cat5e network cables for cheap. Yea yea, I'm too lazy to learn how make my own, and its not like I ever needed to after that..

sometimes buy.com comes through with misc stuff.

Holy hell those guys are a rip off. :o :o :o

$8 for a 3 foot USB extension cable and $10 shipping. :wtf:

Thats almost 4 times as much as 2 6 foot cables would cost from monoprice. :wtf:

SVC seems pretty good though. Not a real huge selection of cables but they have cool glowy LED cables and decent shipping charges. :)

I can vouch for them as being dependable. Take a look at http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ if you have not already. Prices are not the cheapest but service is very good with quality parts. Shipping is quick with USPS if you live in the midwest. Their located in Indy.

CableWholesale.com is where I go to get mine... great quality in cables and they have awsome support.
