View Full Version : CoolIT Systems Anyone Tried?
I'm considering getting a CoolIT Eliminator, and from what I've been reading these seem pretty nice.

Any thoughts?

hehe cool.
There are a few people on this board with Freezone coolers. Maybe they will give you a feedback as well. I think the overall feedback is very positive :)

I'm with Tikiman1, I love mine as well. Idle temp's at 20C~22C and full load temp's 33C~38C.
I haven't heard anything bad so far....

I have one (freezone) and love it. Currently it's not installed with my latest build (not time)
However they now make two versions:
What's the difference between the Freezone and the Eliminator?
Cooling Capabilities:
Freezone is recommended for CPUs with total heat output of up to 175W. Higher loads can be accommodated but the result will be comparable to water cooling. The Eliminator is recommended for CPUs with a total heat output of up to 125W. The Eliminator is targeted for overclocking nearly any dual core CPU while the Freezone is more than capable of cooling the new quad core kentsfield from Intel.
Make sure you get the correct one for your setup. Also make sure you have a 120mm fan on the back of the case. This is where you need to bolt the main unit to, replacing that fan.

Dang you replaced the 90mm fan on the unit itself? I would love to see pictures of that.:D I have always wanted to use a 120mm fan instead.

sorry I had that backwards, I mean you need a 9omm fan on the case to be a direct bolt on replacement to the case.
My case had a 120mm fan which I had to adapt to make the coolit fit properly. I had to drill some extra holes in the case, which If I would have known would have been nice, rather then drilling holes into the case with everything mounted already. (metal filings is not good for a MB/CPU/Vid)
Also because at the time I had an extended ATX case (MB mounted upside down with the PS on the bottom) I called and asked Coolit if their product was ok mounted in either direction. They told me it should not matter and it worked fine upside down(hardware pump that is)

O I see. So you couldn't use the 120mm adapter bracket that comes with it?

I don't know if it was because of the extended ATX case or the fan size, but i had to drill new mouting holes in the case, which was a pain becaues I had mounted everything already LOL.

Everytime I see your specs I want to cry, because you have almost the exact same system that I had.

The CoolIt Freezone does have a limitation with the quad, but it can keep up if properly tuned. For one, you need to turn the TECs all the way up. With that, it keep my OC'd Quad at 30C idle and about 58C with four instances of Orthos running. At stock clocks, it gets well down into the 20's at idle. Consider that OC'd, the Kentsfiled can push 200Watts with enough voltage. So much so, that I consider watercooling the only safe way to properly OC the quads.
One other item, there are releasing a third product with even more cooling capacity that the Freezone. I do not recall the name, but it was shown at CES. Dell is using it in an OEM capacity, as well.

Do you have a link or some other kind of information about that new cooler? I saw the new Dell ads showing their new cooling solution for the XPS. Is this the new CoolIT cooler?
I have to get a Freezone because the Zalman isn't good enough and I don't want to use water or phase again.

Here is a scanned copies of the ICE HAWK product brochure I got at E3, where I met up with the cool it guys.

This never made it to the market, I've called and left messages with the product manager. They keep saying it's only 30-60 days away.
In the images above, you can see it on a video card. They used a single card to show the GPU block better. They also had the Dells in the back with quad SLI coolers but they did not know if those would be released to the gen public.
I beleive the cpu cooler shown in these images I took, was the OEM cooler for the Dells. They did not want a flashy bright blue CPU cooler taking away from the ICE HAWK, which was their main focus at the show.

Thanks for the scans and photos. So this is more like an addon to the Freezone to cool the graphic cards?

Yes it is/was a separate add on for your GPU only. I've not seen nor heard anything in regards to being able to actually buy it.
Like I said, I've been told many times "it's almost ready, it will be released in about a month"

the more I look at that cooler the more it makes me not want one. It just looks so cheaply built.

I'm quite pleased with my Freezone. It takes 15-20 minutes to install and gives temps comparable to the highest quality WC'ing unit.

the new coolermaster will keep the quad @ a nice temperature
i'll get one when there are available , it uses 2 120mm fans .
the freezone has one 92 mm fan ?? to cool a quad and three tecs ,
it prolly has to run at full speed all the time will be far more noisy as the two 120mm fans at low speed
