Whats the difference between the pro and non-pro version of the ati 9700?

i cant find the specs on ATI's website.

r9700Pro are distributed by ATI and have higher clocks. r9700Pro can also be distributed by ATI's partners.

r9700 is ONLY distributed by ATI's partners and has a lower clock of at least 10%

The physical difference between one and the other is the memory chip used. You could get lucky with a 9700np that has the same type of 2.8ns memory as the pros.

Usually, the 9700np can be bios flashed and oc'ed to 9700p specs.

I have a sapphire radeon 9700 non pro. The card is a radeon 9700 pro down to the pcb and cap layout. It has the 3.3 ns ram but I run it with a flashed bios at 340/320 no problem.
